Can you see if it's possible to watch Bridesmaids with it?
low screen resolution
0/10 would not fuck
For that price, I'd say it was one of those cheap, terrible resistive touchscreen tablets.

Yes
Looks like one of these.
I've heard they are pretty decent.
Yeah it is the same thing but that is expensive, you can get them for cheaper

Capacitive and its fine, its came a long way since a couple of years
Shame about the DC jack though, you can guarantee the power supply will nuke its cheap shitty Chinese innards within the year.
I was a bit worried about that but you can use the usb to charge and I use my phone charger. I don't want the house to burn down
Really? Interesting.
Most lower end tablets can also be charged over USB.
Does it have Bluetooth ?
Does it have Bluetooth ?
Nah it doesn't the cpu(a13) is a cheaper version of the a10 that doesn't have bluetooth or HDMI. No gps either
sorry i dont believe you theres no such thing as a decent cheap android tablet

I've seen 800x480 on screens half that size
I've seen 800x480 on screens half that size
I have seen 1366*720 on 40" screens

Hey guys i just bought this great laptop for £50
Good points:
Small and light
Cheap
Came with a 40GB hard drive
Bad points:
Battery only last 24 minutes on full charge
OS is corrupted and so won't boot
Keyboard and trackpad don't work
For £50 its pretty decent
I've seen 800x480 on screens half that size
I have 800x480 on my 4" phone and it's fine, though it's not very nice on a 7" screen. I suppose I'm spoiled by my Nexus 7.

why are you comparing something with hardware an software that at least functions to something with hardware and software that doesnt function at all
its like comparing this

The Nexus 7 is funny to me. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on the screen. Some people say it's perfect for reading, other say it's impossible to read with. I think in the latter case people are either used to the iPad 3 or a dedicated E-Ink reader.

It's the complete opposite of what that latter crowd says. The intensity scale being poorly calibrated makes the display a trainwreck for stuff like photos and videos, but it's fine for text reproduction.

Is this a hardware problem, or can it be ironed out with a patch?
Is this a hardware problem, or can it be ironed out with a patch?
I believe it's hardware. The property of the physical screen.

Actually, he said in his post "poorly calibrated." In that case it might be patchable.
Is this a hardware problem, or can it be ironed out with a patch?
Could be updated based on display firmware. But as we've seen with the calibration on the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus(particularly with the screen temperature), Google does not care about calibrating their displays so I'd say no update.

I'm sure some guy on XDA will fix it. But that doesn't do any good for all the owners who hoped to escape flashing their Android device by buying a Nexus device.
I want to know why they can't just give us manual control over brightness, contrast, and gamma, etc.
[editline]9th August 2012[/editline]
I forgot, we already have brightness control.
I want to know why they can't just give us manual control over brightness, contrast, and gamma, etc.
I'm sitting here with a chinese android "adapter" (basically a Allwinner A10 based tablet, but without screen & battery) and it's ROM offers me the possibility to dick around with those afromented settings.
PS: it runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
[T]http://filesmelt.com/dl/android_screen_shit.jpg[/T]
Proof, evidence, whatever.
That's pretty boss.
You can get custom kernels that let you fiddle with all the gamma and colour balance settings.
I've used it on my Nexus S to stop the screen going yellow, and to ramp the brightness up further.
That's all well and good for the modding community. However,
...that doesn't do any good for all the owners who hoped to escape flashing their Android device by buying a Nexus device.
Despite what the Android modding community thinks, most people do not flash their devices. It doesn't matter because the gamma being absurdly low is only one of the issues with the display. The other is the intensity scale(sometimes called the grey scale) literally stumbles and then falls flat.

I don't know if this can be fixed with a kernel, it might need to be done with a display firmware update which given Google's history will not ever happen.

A tablet which doesn't have good battery life, has a shitty screen and isn't good at web browsing isn't a good tablet, regardless of what the supposed "good points" are. There things you'd expect from a tablet, and this does them all badly, apart from thin and lightness

"Bad battery life" isn't necessarliy 24 minutes and your comparison is fucking retarded no matter how you try to frame it.

So you think people actively want a heavy tablet with short battery life and a bad screen, with a poor browsing experience?

Give up, you fucked up.
Admit it and learn from your mistakes instead of letting your stubbornness drag you down.

The battery lasts around 4 hours straight watching video+wi-fi but lasts days with occasional usage. The screen isn't shit its just not as good as a £200 tablet. Also the web browsing isn't that bad its a little slow but I went on pornhub with flash so its good enough for me

The Nexus 7 doesn't support flash out of the box, so that's one thing you've got over 4.1 tablets.
