Probably by downloading the wrong drivers. In sound options, there was one device called "Haute-Paleurs" or something like that, can't remember the exact spelling, and underneath it said "Via High-Definition Audio". Since the sound was tinny as fuck (Which it shouldn't be), I decided "Yeah, I'll get new drivers, brilliant idea". So I went to this page: http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp
and in the dropdown boxes went:
Microsoft Windows
Windows 7 32-bit
Audio
VT8231, VT8233 etc.
Installed the driver, and I now have 4 choices in the sound options. "Speakers", which doesn't work; It doesn't play the test tone. I've played around with the settings to no avail.
"Headphone", which does the same. With both, when I play songs in Spotify it just skips through them.
Then there's "SPDIF Interface". Also behaves the same.
Then HD Audio HDMI Output. This one seems to work fine, except the fact that I still hear no sound. Spotify behaves correctly, it "plays" the test tone etc. but is still silent.
This probably means I'll have to do a system restore, although I'm not sure how far back the last point was. Probably ages.
The worst part is, I've no fucking clue what soundcard I have. If there's other information I should provide, do tell me.

Right, I rolled back drivers and got my sound working again. I still need to know how to enable or increase the bass on my speakers.
You'll need to install the control panel for the sound card in order to enable bass, EAX, etc.
Also, why did you have sex with your sound card?
