The deal is that I have a pretty good graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 5670) and 3.3 GB RAM. This is actually quite good,as far as I know, but the processor is so absolutely terrifyingly shit. It's a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+. Why is it so shit? When I move my mouse around really fast in the Spore main menu it freezes for a few seconds. I have almost no game that doesn't lag. I want to upgrade for something for a really cheap processor, seeing as probably anything is better than this one. Any suggestions? I'm looking for things mostly under 100 euros.
I know literally nothing about computer hardware really,so please be simple. Also,if I want to upgrade my processor,do I need to replace any other parts? I asked my dad for suggestions and he went all ''If you wanted to do that you'll need to replace your motherboard and your X and your Y etc etc''. Is that true? If so,I might not upgrade. Might be a bit too pricey.
Any suggestions?
I also have a 5670 and I can tell you it's not a good gaming card and yes you need to replace your motherboard to upgrade your cpu if it's a different socket

With good gaming card I mostly meant that when I was checking for stuff on canyourunit.com I could run Far Cry 3,GTA IV etc but I couldn't because of the processor. And uhhh....what? Can I check what the ''socket'' of my CPU is?
AMD Athlon II X2 270 looks pretty good, and is really,REALLY cheap. Is it actually good?

Or the AMD A4 5300?
The socket of your current processor is AM2. Your motherboard will need to be replaced to get anything worth buying. I believe the X2 270 is socket FM2. No matter what you get, you aren't getting anything good for under 100 euros. You are going to have to replace the motherboard to get anything decent. Also don't get an APU; the advantage of APUs is good integrated graphics, so if you aren't using them you are wasting your money.
What kind of RAM do you have? DDR2 or DDR3?
New GPU.
New CPU.
New Mobo.
New RAM (if ddr2).
So, new PC. :v:

I don't actually know. How can I check?

Just post a speccy screenshot.
The fastest AM2 processor that exists is a AMD Phenom X4 9950 (2.6 GHz) and it has a 125/140W TDP. Without knowing the model of your motherboard, we can't tell what it can take.
It would be better to just build a new machine than update that dinosaur. Parts for it are going to be ridiculously expensive.
