I just want a trial, like a few days trial to see if I like the game

The game doesn't even have a trial?

I've checked a few times but can't see it anywhere
Wow. If I was an ESO subscriber this loyalty program would actually offend me and make me want to move on.
A loyalty program using rewards every few months to keep players subscribed?
Not only that, the rewards are as mundane as a vanity pet?
That requires zero efforts from the developers. Look at Guild Wars 2 - Instead of "rewards" every few months, you get new content and missions every few months.
i bet this goes f2p within a year

Most MMOs have a loyalty system of some sorts, but this one really does bite ass.
RS gives you loyalty points which you can trade in for character/weapon skins, pets, or rechargeable auras that give very slight buffs and bonuses. While not gamebreaking or massively game changing, it's very nice to see that your 12 months of consecutive membership gave your character an aura to help with a skill you need to train. There are also capes for time account has existed and crowns for consecutive membership days. This is on top of the weekly updates. tl;dr its pretty fucking good
I'm pretty sure everquest 1/2 had something similar too. I didn't play EQ for long though.
Subs are the highest they've ever been. There are so many people in some areas that you can't even see NPC's because they're surrounded by mobs of players.
So please. Stop with this retarded line that is repeated over and over and over again ad nauseum.
If you have legit reasons to dislike the game then say them, but what you're saying is basically "I've never played the game and I don't like it so I want it to die" which seems to be a massive thing FP has a boner for and I don't know why.
But he's right.

It's not just a matter of current subscribers, it's also a matter of sustaining those subscribers and the content that Zenimax supplies to sustain them. At this point, it doesn't look like they're doing much of anything that would keep people wanting to play; the game has been beaten, probably with several different characters, by people who enjoy it a lot. If they don't supply more things to do, the game is going to die off quick.

Wildstar will, its quite dead already.

GW2 is not a good game to compare. Their updates are lackluster and boring. You beat the new episode? Here, have some bags with mats in them. That is some of the most boring rewards I've seen. Most of the cool skins are cash shop/a lot of gold anyway. Wish the rewards were cooler than a few bags with resources.
They should just release a proper expansion with fun new content like they did for original GW.
Huh, cool. Here's hoping this helps. ESO is pretty fun, and FFXIV is a recent game where a similar system worked out.

Honestly didn't expect that one to get into its current situation so fast.

Load of hype, nothing lasting in the game.

You get the first 30 days free, but you'll still have to enter payment info. I'd recommend making an account on the site and downloading the launcher from the account page before you buy it, though. The launcher is ~30GB, and if you have a slow internet connection, you'll burn through a good chunk of your free time before the game is even downloaded. Also, once you do buy it, cancel the subscription immediately because it's set to auto-renew by default.
My Internet sucks haha I'll have to try it
The 4 guys still playing it will sure be happy.
Seems like a plan to reel in more people, showing others what they'll be missing out on if they don't subscribe. I believe if this fails they'll go f2p.
