So is this going to be like War Thunder, except pay to win and horrible match making, making it practically impossible to have a good round, that isn't completely biased toward one team? Or will it be somewhat balanced, instead of being harshly out weighed by other factions?
War Thunder does a good job, but sometimes it's rather frustrating getting locked with teams that are incapable of doing much, either than just doing dog fights, and looking out for no one else, except themselves. It doesn't invoke team plays at all. It rewards you very little for helping someone.
It also rewards you very, very lowly for killing ground targets. Which is the main thing of winning Arcade Battles.

I haven't played much War Thunder, but the big difference between the two is that in Warplanes you can either a) dogfight or b) bomb targets to get rid of AA/score points. Bombers and fighters are about 60/40 or 70/30, so there are always people out to grab the ground targets and those trying to kill bombers - so in that regard it's a little more 'even' than I found in War Thunder. It helps that ground targets are worth 1 plane kill, so just bombing and helping your team that way is pretty solid.
That said, it's gonna be grindy and you will get killed in 10 seconds if you've got no idea what you're doing. Unlike WoT though, it's MUCH more beginner friendly. I didn't see hardly as much 'lol I ran into bullet' as in WoT.
But, eh. I expect it'll have the same problems.

Matchmaking is fine in WoWP, tier-wise. There are quite a bit of matches which are filled with planes from 1-2 tiers only.
But the teams are always shit, no exceptions, just like in WoT. You can get top gun after top gun or blow up every ground target on the enemy team, and you'll still end up being the last one alive versus a swarm of theirs.
