I did some research about the 3 red lights on the back of my 4870, someone said it was because the 8 pin connector to give power to the pci slots... Does my mobo need that? I do have the 2 6 pin connectors in my 4870, im just not getting a display.

What? What does your pci slot have to do with your gpu?
GPU goes into PCI slot, i plug in both 6 pin connectors to GPU, i get 3 red lights on the 4870. no signal going to monitor
The 4870 goes into a pci-e slot.
It is in a pci e slot, x 16 itt giving me 3 red lights on the back
Maybe your PSU can't handle it? What's that wattage on it?
