So my computer was out of commission for a while, and I traced the problem to the PSU (nothing would power on at all). So I just ordered this one. Previously I had a 650w PSU (not sure about rails or max amps), checked power ratings and such and this one seemed like it would fit the bill.

I plugged it in and everything and the computer turns on now, but the graphics card won't turn on. I didn't have a problem with the graphics card before when the computer wouldn't work, it just powered off randomly (no BSOD or graphical errors) and the power supply refusing to turn on leads me to believe that was solely the problem.
Is there anything that might be causing the card not to turn on? I have reseated it on the PCI-E several times, I know the PSU has more than the minimum required watts and amps for the graphics card. I'm guessing there might be a problem with the actual PCI-E power cables on the new PSU, though I can't be for sure. I'll try to borrow a different card to see what happens, but I can't test the card in another computer. I think if there was just not enough watts the card would turn on as it doesn't need many when booting, but I'm not sure.
Can't really tell what the problem is exactly, but I'm pretty sure it is something with the actual PCI-E cables, because the card doesn't turn on at all. Any help is appreciated, I really need to get this thing working.

the card requires 36a on 12v+ and the PSU claims 40a on 12v+ with a single rail. this should be compatible correct?

also I just tried using a different PCI-E graphics card that I took from another computer and that won't display a picture either, it worked in the other computer though. is this a motherboard problem? i really hope it's not :(
Did you take out the battery in the motherbord?...
no, i was not aware there was a battery in the motherboard. is this something that I should do? the green light powers on with the new PSU and everything appears to be running, just not actually working
Dont take the battery out it screws things up
Have you tryed to put that thing in that beeps? if theres a error

thing that beeps? i'm not sure i follow. i tried removing the RAM to force the motherboard to make noise, but this did nothing either.

My motherboard come with a thing that beeps like 4 beeps means theres a error with ram or somthing
braden are you talking about a motherboard speaker? And are those beeps POST feedback beeps?

yep
Yeah I'm getting no beeping at all.
The motherboard is really old, it's an ASUS SLI board, the first one I think. It has a C2D 2.16Ghz processor and 2GB RAM so it's probably time to get an upgrade anyway. It seems as if there is a problem somewhere, and I'm willing to doubt it's the new power supply, and rather the motherboard.
