Ok so here's my problem...
One side of my headphones are louder than the other side. Like, it's almost as if one side isn't making any sound at all. This is really bugging me. It's the left side, which has the cord on it. I'm not sure why it's doing this. It's been like this for a while but now it's really starting to get to me.
I've tried checking the settings in my sound but that doesn't help.
Why is it that one side I can barely hear, but the other one plays just fine?
Open them and resolder the connections.
Happened to me.
turned out it was the iPod that was the problem, so I took that shit to school and me and all my friends ghetto stomped the shit out of it. Then some bitchass teacher wrote me up for stomping on my own damn iPod some bullshit that was.

Would this fix the problem. Yes.
The question OP has to ask himself is: Is it really worth the effort?

I'll look for another solution before I decide and try to open up my $70 headset...
The only other possibilities that I can think of, off the top of my head:
1. The contacts on your connector are dirty (which I'm assuming that you checked)
2. If your headphones have a volume knob, the potentiometer might be shot (which in that case, you would de-soldier it and replace the whole thing with a salvaged one)
3. The magnet in that side of the headset is fucked (may as well buy a new headset)
It's been a while since I last worked on headsets, so I could just be talking out of my ass though...

If you can't return it or RMA it, then it's the best option.
