Hello my beloved Facepunch! This will be my first "high end" build ever. This is still a project that i will be working on for at least a month (probably more) and i will update when anything happens on this build. The reason why i make this thread is simply because i want some input from you guys so if there is any opinion on parts or bottlenecks and stuff like that feel free to post them down below. My current computer (which i wrote this on) is a *ATI Radeon HD 4600 * Samsung 500gb hardrive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152181 *Western Digital 500gb harddrive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136358 *Intel core 2 Duo CPU 2.4 ghz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115003 *Case is a Antec three hundred http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 * and finally there is 4gb of random manufacturer DDR2 What i want is a nice boost in performance so this is my "in the works" build as of now MSI R9 280X GAMING 3GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127759 (Bought for 255,06$ saved about 113,36$) Antec GX GX 700 Black and military green ATX Mid Tower Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1N8-001K-00002&cm_re=antec-_-1N8-001K-00002-_-Product (Bought 73,54$ like Antec and liked the anesthetics of this case) Intel Core i5-4670K 3,4 GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116899 Motherboard MSI Z97 Gaming 3 - Haswell Refresh HDD will be the ones i had/have in this one PSU will probably be something like Fractal Design Integra R2 750W 80+ Bronze or if thats OP give me some advice. Looking on some Corsair 8GB DDR3 Vengeance 1600MHz CL9 (2X4GB) for the memory but that can change give some advice. Should i go for water-cooled or just ordinary? may also need some help for the cpu cooling.
Get a z97 board instead http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#c=99&sort=a8
Cooler Master 212 is a great cooler
And the corsair 750 is currently on sale for $60 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139051
If you like that case, it is an excellent choice. I had it for about 8 months and it cools spectacularly and can handle a thicker 240mm rad or thinner 280mm one [editline]23rd May 2014[/editline] I would however suggest picking up two 120mm fans for the front at the minimum, and one on the side if budget allows
Get a z97 board instead http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#c=99&sort=a8
Whats the difference? more then the price that is.
Whats the difference? more then the price that is.
Support for the new CPU's that are being released later this year.
And better chipsets, more usb 3.0 ports, better design, and sata express (3.2) with increased transfer rates from the previous cap of 600mb/s to 1.2gb/s. With the new breakthrough in SSD tech and the upcoming hugely increased speeds it will be well worth it.
well i am looking on a MSI Z97 Gaming 3 - Haswell Refresh motherboard right now looks solid
I would recommend the Asus-A for that price range. It's a much better mb, with sata express, onboard wifi, more vrm phases, and probably better built quality http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132118

The Asus-A has 8 VRM phases, sata express, M.2, better audio, onboard wifi, better ethernet, and better heatsinks (2 mosfets cause of 8 vrm phases). I would personally recommend the Asus-A since it's only a bit more expensive and totally worth it.
