Ok, it isn't exactly new, it's one from a shell computer my dad found at work for me, we swapped everything over, graphics card, network card and hard drives. All of this worked but the disc drive because it had the wrong kind of wires, we tried switching these and they wouldn't connect to the motherboard.
Anywho, we take it back upstairs, plug it all in and it sounds like it's running, but the light on the front of my monitor doesent go green, just orange. There are lights on on the computer, the mouse/keyboard have NO lights on them. And we're just confused. We even tried switching power supplies etc.
I thought some of you boffins might know something to help us?
Did you use standoffs on the new mobo?
did you check to see if it is compatible? bios maybe locking you out SOME dells only work on a dell mobo

Only applies to the OS because of the Tattoo. A privately purchased OS fixes that. The parts would be proprietary if it was a dell hardware issure. I'd suggest pulling the parts out (cept for mobo and PS of course) and checking if the mobo powers. (You plugged the mobo in, right?) and keept putting parts in one by one till it stops. Also:
