"The changes were intended to separate interactions with friends from branded content" It didn't even succeed in doing that though. In fact it's worse than ever; people I follow who have public stories are horribly mixed in with branded content now.
Snapchat can't admit that they fucked up in redesigning core parts of their interface. I understand that Snapchat relies on branded content to even survive in market. But there's just a number of painstakingly bad choices made in how the UI even feels to navigate, even moreso from the original version of the application, which, while it did work, was not without it's many flaws. I'm no UI expert, I'm not paid full time to educate myself on proper techniques, theories, studies. But I read articles out of pure interest. Stumbling across this a few months ago (from a 2015 article) [t]https://i2.wp.com/generalassemb.ly/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/designtrends-blog-1.png[/t] The new interface changes elements to lie outside the comfort spot of a regular one finger gesture, especially with my small hands (it actually hurts to use, quite frankly) That alongside with general inconsistencies on how the list is interacted with. Just what a clusterfuck If I was to take a stab, I know that the CEO of the company is really uptight about confidentiality within the company, internal teams only have access to what they should have access to. If this was to go a step further, there would be at most just limited focus testing of the UI, feedback from it's overall userbase would be next to nothing. They wouldn't want the news of a redesign leaking out early. Changes made have not been made user centred And if I made a interface that had over a million people dissing it, regardless of what the company says, because they probably don't want to invest in doing it over again, I'd consider myself a failure
Now that you bring up that diagram, Snapchat probably has the worst UI of any app on my phone in the aspect of making me stretch to uncomfortable parts of the screen all the damn time

I only use snapchat to snap to my close friends. Have never been disturbed by any update. I just dont have to press my friends stories if i dont want to.
i like this update, all the sponsored kardashian dick sucking is away from me
i like this update, all the sponsored kardashian dick sucking is away from me
Was just about to say. It's neat that I don't have to go to the public feed anymore, and that stories are baked into the normal inbox. That said, the UI itself could use some improvements.
They also removed features for some reason? Before if someone sent me multiple snaps or texts I'd see like "Bill(5)" in my notification. Now I just see "Text from Bill".
i like this update, all the sponsored kardashian dick sucking is away from me
Amen to that. And on Android, it finally uses the camera api instead of taking screenshots of what the camera sees. So we got a huge quality boost.
no it doesn't, my pictures are still 720p
Ah I forgot, it's still on the beta branch only. I keep assuming everyone has it now. It should be rolled out to everyone "soon". It also supports the Pixels visual core thing as well. You'll be able to tell the difference.
i am on beta branch
I don't think resolution will change. Picture quality should've improved regardless, not sure how it affected non Pixel phones.
