Yeah, I just started up my computer today and all my music/videos/etc have this really messed up audio distortion. I was playing games until midnight last night and the sound was perfectly fine then, so I don't understand what could have broken within the 8-9 hours I was asleep.
I used about 3-4 different pairs of headphones on the computer, ones which I know work just fine on my iPod, and it still has the same distortion, so it isn't headphone-related. I have a shitty onboard sound card, Realtek HD ALC888 or whatever. I know it's pretty bad compared to other sound cards, but I've been using it for 1-2 years straight now without any problems. I tried fiddling with the settings and I noticed when I set it from 7.1 surround sound to stereo, everything then sounded fine, only to break again 5 minutes later. I'm going to try screwing with the settings some more to see what the problem is, and I also have the latest drivers being downloaded at an amazing 10-20 kbps.

Okay I updated my drivers and that seems to have fixed it so I feel pretty dumb for making this thread now. Still weird how it would break just randomly like that.

No I lied it's still fucked up, god damn it.
You could just have a shitty sound card. I don't see any solution to test this besides buying a new sound card.
I don't exactly have the money for that right now, god damn it. It worked fine yesterday after a while but now that I've started the computer up again it still sounds horrible, this is so fucking annoying.
Since it was working fine and just suddenly started, it could be dying too.
