Police and protesters have clashed in Athens after the first anti-government demonstration since Greece's far-left Syriza party took power last month.
Dozens of activists hurled petrol bombs and stones at police and set cars alight after the march.
The unrest came ahead of a vote by German parliament on Friday on whether to extend financial aid for Greece.
The deal, approved by Greece and international creditors last week, has triggered dissent within Syriza itself.
The did not like hats?
[sp] Joke aside [/sp]
I dont think greece Will recover any time soon.
I find hard to believe that the people are already complaining. The government has barely been for a month. There isn't much shit to complain about.
Smells fishy to me.

If the government has been in power for about a month, it's kinda odd that there's so much to bitch and moan about that they supposedly did.
Not to say the populace doesn't have anything to moan about, but it's probably too soon to blame the current (new) government.
As far as I got him.
The people are angry because for the umpteenth time the Greek government failed to deliver their main platform ... survive the next elections.
Oh do get why theyre pissed, I was awnsering GoDong's question.
In a normal state of politics I suppose Axsisel would have a point.

The people are angry because for the umpteenth time the Greek government failed to deliver their main platform promise. I'm sure anyone would be pissed if it turned out that there's not a single party that's not made up of spineless parasites and/or cowardly liars left in their country anymore.
Better option or not for Greece, it doesn't matter much for Syriza ; they can fix up the country as much as it's possible, but if this persists they won't survive the next elections.

Then you haven't been following the news at all.
You mean the Greeks can actually be arsed to protest?
What exactly do the Greek population want their government to do? Their expectations are completely unrealistic.

Communists rallying outside of Parliament right now.

Wait, communists? Aren't Syriza the closest thing one could realistically expect to communism anyway?
Wait, communists? Aren't Syriza the closest thing one could realistically expect to communism anyway?
They're a combination of most of Greece's left, but afaik not all of Greece's communist parties are a part of it.

The biggest irony of the left, many of who are adherents to some form of collectivism, is that they all hate each other. 'Noooo you're not socialist enough', 'noooo anarchism goes too far', 'noooo gradualism doesn't work'. You'd probably find that a social liberal, a classic liberal and a neoliberal would get along with each other more than a Marxist would get along with a social democrat or a libertarian socialist.

Yeah, they should be celebrating (without wrecking shit) because this seems like a fair compromise for all parties involved, given the situation and circumstances.

"No true Scotsman" fallacy in action
"No true Scotsman" fallacy in action
Actually no, most splits are over different methods and tendencies. It has nothing to do with "not communist enough" as it is "your program isn't going to work/isn't efficient enough/your guys killed my guys back in 1941". It's a huge clusterfuck and it's honestly all nonsense.

What do you get when two leftists walk into a closet?
Three splinter groups.
