And that isn't true anyways - I've been a PC gamer literally forever, but I had no trouble using a controller. An hour or two of practice is enough to get used to it. Sure, it's less precise than a mouse, but it's nowhere near impossible to play with it.

The amount of aim assist (not just when aiming at people, there's lots of assist mechanisms in these games) makes it possible. It's definitely great for people who prefer a slower game, because generally if you've ever played the same game on a console then played it on PC with good people, the pace is completely different.

Even that isn't very accurate because the XIM is still limited by hard caps on how fast you can move/turn around in the game but yeah.
COD on consoles is so very slow. On PC it's crazyyyy fast and twitchy.
More advanced games are even worse tho. Watch someone play Quake 3 on a console, then watch

I agree that it's not impossible to play FPSes on a console (I play i fare share of splitscreen Halo with friends of mine) but to me it feels like I'm controlling a segway rather a human being.

I have an xbox, can't play fps's on it.
Also I'm not trying to be an elitist or anything, it's just really factual. Companies don't even try to hide it. FPSs on consoles have a surprising amount of aim assist, not just (in COD) direct aim where it practically aimbots on people near you when you ADS in, but quicker turning (and some snap aim) on someone if they are behind you or to your sides, aim assist for throwing knives, etc.
One of the only games to let PC + console users play together, Shadowrun, intentionally gimped PC controls just to level the playing field. Microsoft actually had people play that game w/o the gimped controls and mediocre PC players w/ M&K destroyed the best controller users they could get. Other games like UT3 on consoles that support M&K, actually separated people who used M&K from those who used a controller.
This is mostly why companies have abandoned that whole thing. In order to do it right in the case of an FPS, you HAVE to screw one side or the other no matter what you do, which isn't good when the other option is to separate people and let both have great (if insular) gameplay & communities. The fast, accurate, twitchy and quick gameplay that a M&K provides just doesn't mesh well with the assisted yet still slow console gameplay.
