I'm thinking of building a machine to SSH into and run my software builds (Chromium OS) on, but I've not built a PC in so long, I've lost touch with what the best value components are these days. I won't be using this machine interactively, so no graphics card is required. I'll stick a spare one I have lying around in to install the OS and then remove it once it's running.
I'm based in the UK, and I don't really have a budget as such, I just want the cheapest machine that meets my requirements. I'm imagining it'll cost somewhere around £400-500.
I don't need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, power supply, graphics card or case. All I need is a motherboard, CPU and memory combination.
CPU should be at least a quad-core and preferably Intel. Preferably at least 32GB of RAM.
What should I be buying? Ivy Bridge? Xeon?
Xeon would be a bit of a push for that budget, you could go for:

Which comes out at £450. You could spend out closer to £500 and go for http://www.ebuyer.com/349026-intel-core-i7-3770k-3-5ghz-socket-1155-8mb-cache-retail-boxed-processor-bx80637i73770k instead, which would give you some overclockability with a new cooler in the future.
Also, as it has integrated graphics, then you won't need to put a graphics card in to install the OS.
