Everything on my PC worked fine until tonight. I put my pc to sleep while i went out for maybe 30 mins. When i got back, i tapped space bar
and my pc turned back on. I was at my desktop with the steam browser open as i left it. but i couldn't click anything at all.
Upon resetting my pc, i come to the windows boot manager screen, which claims:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "next"
3. Click "repair your computer".
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
This would be nice to do, but when my pc starts, it doesnt load the CD at all.
After startup it goes straight to the boot manager.
Here are my specs, to the best of my knowledge.
Windows 7 64-bit
CPU: AMD A8-3850 With Radeon HD integrated graphics
Motherboard: ASUS F1 A75-V Pro
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 6870 1 GB
SATA II Solid State Drive <----- This is what OS is installed on.
1TB HDD
3 sticks of 2 GB ram.
PSU: Antec 650 watt
I dont know what to do Facepunch. PC was fine until this day. Wat Do?
a couple of things i try right away, turning it off, power off, unplug for a few.
clearing the bios, resseting it to fail-safe; removing cmos battery,
tapping f8 to get the windows boot menu during start up, start in safe mode if you can.
make sure and set the first boot device (in bios) to cd/dvd in boot priority if you want to boot from disk.
unplug any un-neccessary devices 1 at a time, retry, unplug next, including usb stuff (sometimes can affect the boot process, like portable hard drives, memory sticks) so you can eliminate perhiperals
I tried to look for an option to start in safe mode, couldnt find one. it just brings me to a window asking which drive i boot with (or something) Although most of what you just said made absolutely no sense to me, i will try to unplug things, and reboot. Will update later.
You need to insert a repair disk and let it run; it could take several restarts to repair successfully.
You could have a failing hard drive or one of your peripherals are failing and you should check it out.
Unplugging/replugging everything doesn't help, i figured out how to boot from cd, but when i try to
repair pc, it claims the version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows i am trying to repair.
I would try clearing, and resetting the bios, but i get that feeling that i would seriously screw something up beyond my repair.
