• Steam Mobile opening itself and signing in upon phone activity

So I got a Samsung Galaxy S5 as a somewhat hand-me-down from someone else in the house and I absolutely love it. However there's only one big problem, and I'm hoping it's not specific to the phone itself. Upon picking up my phone from not using it for a while and doing anything relating to data usage, Steam Mobile automatically opens itself up and signs in. Which I really, really do not want because my friends tend to immediately message me and think I signed off just to ignore them immediately after they've messaged me, when I just want the app to close and STAY closed unless I specifically opened it. I looked all around Steam's options and I can't find anything relating to it. I'm on 5.0 Lollipop, stock. Please and TIA. Edit: Might I add that this never happened on my old HTC One X I ditched for this thing.
it has always done this for a since the app was released. I am not sure what causes it but sometimes I can go days without it happening or it could happen every time I turn my phone screen on.
That's certainly odd, because as I edited into the OP it never happened on my old phone, and every person on my friends list who uses Steam Mobile, iPhone or Android of any version doesn't have this happen to them. It's increasingly frustrating.
Can confirm the mobile app is a piece of shit when it comes to keeping you logged in/out. Explain it to whoever you talk to frequently and you'll be fine
I'm pretty sure that it use to log me on every time I got an email about a game sale. You can turn this off by going to settings>steam preferences. (on the phone app) I also turned off notifications for the whole app and it hasn't turned on since.
Just delete the app it's kinda useless. If you have anyone as friends on Steam who you talk to a lot, chances are they're probably going to be on Facebook as well. [editline]4th June 2015[/editline] Part of the reason why I haven't used Steam regularly in years.

It doe it to me to but i just log out when it does it and ignore it.
I'd just uninstall it to be honest. I'm pretty sure that you could use the steam web chat stuff.
Honestly, the Steam app is very unstable and borderline unusable for me. On top of the issues listed in this thread I constantly have messages disappear/lose connection to steam for no reason with a fully functioning internet connection on the phone/don't receive messages that successfully sent to my PC. The fact that Valve has made no attempt to use make this app actually function correctly in 3 years is embarrassing. It's the reason that I just use Whatsapp, texting, iMessage or Skype on my phone to chat to people. If the Steam app functioned as it was supposed to, it would be fine but it just can't handle simple tasks.
Have you tried disabling push notifications in the app? Settings -> background connectivity -> Disconnect, no push notifications. That stopped it for me.
