Do you have a smartphone maybe a windows mobile? Then Microsoft Tag is the thing for you.
What is Microsoft Tag?
Microsoft Tag creates unlimited possibilities for making interactive communications an instant, entertaining part of life. They transform physical media (print advertising, billboards, product packages, information signs, in-store merchandising, or even video images)—into live links for accessing information and entertainment online.
With the Microsoft Tag application, just aim your camera phone at a Tag and instantly access mobile content, videos, music, contact information, maps, social networks, promotions, and more. Nothing to type, no browsers to launch!
Oh, how do i download this awesome shit? (FREE)
http://www.microsoft.com/tag/content/download/
So how do i create my own Tag? (FREE)
http://tag.microsoft.com/
So what now?
Well if you made your own Tag go have some fun putting it on anything you want people to visit. Lets say you wanna make a prank so you make a tag that goes to meatspin.com so when people scans the Tag with their mobile it would visit meatspin.
Now, i made this tag for you guys it goes to facepunch: (No shit, seriously even if i said you could make it go to meatspin i didn't do it, it goes to facepunch to show you how it works...)

Just scan it with Microsoft Tag and it goes to facepunch.
Nice try.
Thanks, what did i try to do?
Also if you think i try to trick you into meatspin turn off flash before trying if you are so afraid

Don't ask me, ASK MICROSOFT :O
Blackberry version is needed.
Ooo there is one.
looks like everyone on verizon is fucked and won't be able to use this
looks like everyone on verizon is fucked and won't be able to use this
How so? verizon can't stop you from installing this app on a phone that can actually use it.
Who's up for a mass underground movement and plaster facepunch ones all over the place.
Remember you can set it on your own products homepages etc.
I just had to bump this since it's really usefull and i would like to see it on products in the future
Damnit bad time to not have internet on my phone.
sounds extremely pointless and gimmicky if you ask me
Heard of barcodes, they've been around for years. This is just a coloured barcode.
Mobile phones have been reading QR codes for years, this is basically the same, except now you need extra, non-standard software.
QR code is WAY more awesome, most cell phones with a decent camera and java support can read them

Try that code

Ya, QR is much better, I have an N82 and (as pointless as it is) it works great.

Hardware can't do anything without software.
[editline]10:16AM[/editline]
Actually something can be turned on without software, it just won't do anything more sophisticated than turning on a light or something.
I want the QR software. Great time for my BB Storm to be dead...
the G1 can read QR codes! wooo
The G1 can render contact cards as QR codes. Go on, try it.

I don't think the iPhone is capable of reading those tags, as last time i checked, there were no apps or native support for Java on the iPhone. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The Nokia phones have their own file format for this program. Just visit that website http://gettag.mobi on an iPhone and it'll tell you if there's a version available for iPhone.
