Wikipedia is wrong there are 649
So, they finally ran out of names.
They'll arrive on 3DS in October
Well that's shit. Why hype me up now even if I have to wait like 10 months?

It's like being pregnant
2 things are nagging at me right off the bat from watching this.
1. Pokemon Stadium like fights in the real games has been a dream for years I know, but that combat system slows combat down so much, especially for a game that's already frustratingly slow. I really hope they do something to speed everything up and this doesn't just make everything worse.
2. It's cool they finally did full 3d but it means almost nothing if your full 3d world is still grid based. The design of the world isn't going to improve just because you implemented the technology. You need to take advantage of it.
Whilst power-mad has some good points, it's still cool that they're finally making a "mainline" Pokemon game that's fully 3D, even if only for looks. However as power-mad pointed out, they really need to take advantage of it.
Personally, I liked the old simple turn-based RPG template when I was a kid, but nowadays I feel that Pokemon should have a "newer" battle system that speeds things up a little; what I'd probably love to see would be a Pokemon game with real-time battles, wherein you directly control your Pokemon, moving around as you see fit, activating abilities when the time is right and attacking similar to how one would fight in a fighting game with combos and whatnot. That'd make the battles a fair bit more engaging than just ordering your Pokemon to use their abilities and using items on them; you'd still do that (probably through selecting the moves and/or items on the touchscreen of D-pad) but it wouldn't be all the Pokemon could do without your say-so, as they'd be dodging and dashing and hitting and blocking under your control.
With that system, you wouldn't simply be playing as the Trainer; you'd be playing as the Pokemon.
Also, a thought that crept into my mind; what would happen if you combined the gameplay of a Pokemon game with the gameplay of a Zelda game? Probably something absolutely insane.
Looks like I finally have a reason to pick up a 3DS.
Maybe now I'll actually *use* my 3DS :D

That would be impressive if you predicted shit brown and piss yellow and then they went with that.
There are still more colors, I don't know why they switched.
pokemon beige
The names are just getting so simpler, maybe this is a good thing?
Also, did they skip the Gen 3 remake this time around? Seems like a strange move.
gen 3 never needed a remake and will never get one

I think it's understandable: Red/Blue and Gold/Silver are incompatible with all the other generation of games because Gen III's internal data structure received a massive overhaul, hence why remakes were made.
I preferred the rumored Pokemon Rainbow version, had the regions from gens 1-4
That looks awesome, I needed a reason to get a 3DS, now I just need a job.
And after this announcement, sales of 3DS goes up
