I've got $1500 USD to spend, and I live in California. I'm going to mostly be gaming with this thing. I don't need a monitor, keyboard, or mouse. I also have a 1 TB hard drive that I will be using for storage, but I will need a smaller drive for the OS. Thank you for your time. EDIT: My budget is now $1000. See post #13 for more information.
With that budget, do you want the smaller drive to be an SSD?
Sure.
do you think you can wait a bit until there are more motherboard options available?
Okay.
Not a big talker, are we?
What else am I supposed to say?
Just to let you know, It would be good to wait a while and wait for the next series of video cards to come out, and not to mention the Sandy bridge motherboard problem will need to be fixed soon.

I've heard AMD is going to release their new AM3+ socket sometime soon. Maybe it's worth a look.
June is not "soon"
If you want a BF3 or Skyrim build then Bulldozer is an option if you're patient.
Bump. My budget has been decreased to $1000. I need a completely new computer that is capable of running Skyrim and BF3. I will need Windows 7, and a new mouse. Not sure what to get though, any help? I've been completely out of touch with the latest technology so someone will have to fill me in. Out of touch means I remember when the ATI 4870 was top-of-the-line and I have no idea what is right now.

Thought you said in OP you didn't need a HDD..Well, drop the 570 and get a 560 ti/6950 1GB then add in a Spinpoint F3
Oh that's outdated. My 1 TB hard drive failed a few weeks after I said that, so yeah I'm going to need one.
Well there's no DVD drive, or do you have one already? Might be handy.
I'll need that too. Can anybody recommend me one?
I was looking at DIY PC Combos and I found this nice one for about 700 bucks. Add on a GTX 570 and Windows 7 and it comes up to 1200. What do you think? DIY combos are usually bad. You don't need an i7 or 8GB RAM for gaming, and green drives are a NO for booting (OS Install). What I originally recommended (http://filesmelt.com/dl/wadddddd.png) will be fine for you. Just add a Spinpoint F3, and maybe a different motherboard (GD65 + 2500k or UD4, ect)
I added a HD, the UD4, and an optical drive and it ended up costing more than what I suggested.

What about that motherboard? Is MSI okay? What about the P67 chipset?
P67 is what you want and yeah the motherboard is a pretty popular choice.
