So, I recently got a new pc and stuff, and for some reason, the audio jacks in the back dont work. Ive plugged 2 different sets of speakers, 1 5.1 and another 2.1 speakers, and they dont work at all if plugged to the back. Ive tried just about anything I can remember. Mobo drivers, searching for configurations that might make it work, and nothing. I even took it back to the store, and they said it was working, and just needed the drivers. What the hell is going on here? Only the front jack of the case works, NOONE of the back 1's work, and im tired of carying this thing around and not being able to play for days. I dont know how the hell did it work there and not here, its a fucking mistery...
The mobo is an asus P5Q turbo and Windows 7 7600 build is running. They said it could be because of 7...
I just dont know what the fuck to do anymore... I have to use the front jack, and that would be shit since it would be a waste of some perfectly good 5.1 speakers...
Help please...
did you try sound drivers?
did you try sound drivers?
Ive installed 2 different versions of the drivers the guys at the store gave me. They also installed, and said that was the problem. That it needed the drivers to work. What I dont get is how they dont work now or never did with the drivers I installed and that came installed after they "fixed" it.
I dont know what to do anymore... They said they fixed it, and that it needed the drivers... Now I get home and...???...
EDIT: Somehow, only 1 jack seems to work. I just randomly started trying, and they only work by plugging on 1. Maybe the others are broken or???

ok but the ones that come on CD's are always old. go to the sound cards manufacturer website and get the drivers for it.

They gave me new ones at the store. Seems the problems are the jacks, as only 1 of them works :/
Waste of some 5.1...

model of the soundchip
Dont know which model it is, but my w7 is 64 bit
no i need the model of your sound chip before i can find your drivers.
it should say somewhere in your motherboard manual.
VIA VT1708S 8-channel High Definition Audio CODEC
This?
Only the green jack will output sound until you enable 5.1 in your sound card hardware. The other ones are used for things like line-in and stuff until you do. Goto VIA's website, find your card, and get the correct drivers and software.

Hope it gets solved like that. Ill have to look for the switches for that. Ill report back after ive installed.
If the front port works then it's probably a fault with the jacks on the motherboard. I would ask for a replacement.
No it wasnt that. It was the drivers. Had to install again and search for the switches. Shadaez was right, just needed to activate the other speakers. Silly me :P
