Are you prepared for the apocalypse? If so, how well? - General

It's a widely discussed topic. Are you prepared for the apocalypse, be it zombies, nuclear war, an epidemic, or whatever? If you are, how well are you preapred? Do you have a fallout shelter built in your backyard, or a Bug Out Bag (BOB) in your closet? Me, personally, I am in the process of preparing. I'm looking for body armor (hopefully Type IV :v:) and a couple of firearms.

No, all I got for food are 2 candy canes and a candle.

I do have a bug out bag, but for now that's all I have. Well, I do have knowledge on survival too. In the next few years though, I will be building a fallout shelter. I have made very serious plans with my fiance to build one in our back yard. I will definitely be going overkill with things, but who cares? When shit hits the fan, and something breaks or goes wrong in your survival setup, overkill is good. As for the house itself, I will be blast and bullet proofing the kids rooms and the master bedroom, as well as certain points along the route to the fallout shelter. I know how to survive in blizzard conditions and operate firearms decently if that counts, although I would much rather be quiet and not draw attention to myself. I'd probably end up defending myself with a trap or close quarters encounter before firing a firearm.

I can start fire with two sticks, assuming they're dry. Give me some plastic, and I can purify water. Give me rope and I can make a snare. Give me knife, I can prepare meat.

why would firearms and bullet proof vests save you from a nuclear war or an epidemic it's not like you'll shoot the disease and the bullet proof vest wont save you from nuclear bombs i'm pretty sure mankind wont end up killing each other like in fallout

You have to be ready to stop a thief from stealing the supplies that you need. You also need to be ready to fight for what you need. I have more things to develop that I can't right now.

I play video games so I know how to handle it.
