Mixing 1GB 667MHz DDR2 w/ 512MB 266MHz DDR2: What will this do?

I'm almost positive the board will go with the lowest speed, but still be able to use the RAM.
Or, it will reject the new RAM completely.
So what will happen?
It will slow your 667mhz sticks to 266mhz
SO DON'T DO IT. It will make a significant performance hit.
Also upgrade your computer, DDR2-667 is slow by itself.

Oh this is just temporary. Maybe a week or so. But look at this thread, I am getting a new computer, I just found a 1GB DDR2 stick, so I can take out the current DDR2 512MB and replace it w/ the 1GB stick, totaling 1.5GB instead of my old 1GB.
(Previous: 2 x 512MB, New: 1x 512MB, 1 x 1GB)

where the f*ck did you find 266MHz DDR2?
You'll probably find the 512MB stick is 533Mhz. DDR stands for Double Data Rate, the usual way for labeling RAM is to use the doubled speed.

Well, what about the 667MHz one? 1334MHz versus 533Mhz? I definitely wouldn't want that.
OP, if you need more memory, grab some swapfile/swapspace until you grab some better sticks.

I'm running 4x1GB sticks, each is a DDR2-800 from years 2008/2009 and I believe they have a lot of errors and it's still running great.

The 667Mhz one is using the double speed label and the 266Mhz using the single speed label. Using the same metric they are 667Mhz and 533 Mhz.
Guys my computer is running 2 x 512MB DDR2 266MHz.
I found someone who will trade one 1GB for a 512MB, but I only have two slots, so originally I thought this would work out. Instead of having the 1GB total, I could have the 1.5GB, and seeing as I am using vista, it might make a week or two less painful until this computer is sold. But when I discovered the RAM speed of the 1GB, it being 667MHz and my 512 being 266, I was certain that there would be some kind of performance downfall. I also thought it would disable dual channel.

I'm so glad I am getting a computer overhaul.
Nonono, it is 266 x 2 aka 532MHz.

Ohh, so is that what dual channel means? I thought it just utilizes both at the same time, wow I am dumb.

No, Dual channel does not mean that.
DDR - Double Data Rate.
266 doubled is 532.
There should be a helpful rating. Thanks.
