This is why I like Carmack, I think anyone would think the same?
He loves PC, apparently, calling it “crazy” how much power they have to work with on the platform, and said the firm put 192GB of RAM into a test server, to, well test it obviously.
Woah
This is why I like Carmack, I think anyone would think the same?
He still is the whiz kid of the industry
wait. john goodman?
and said the firm put 192GB of RAM into a test server
god I long for the day that becomes laughable
god I long for the day that becomes laughable
It'll take awhile, RAM isn't advancing according to Moore's law because we don't have a true need for much more in desktop PCs at the moment.
Woah He still is the whiz kid of the industry
Haha, 192GB? I would love to run GTA IV in pure memory with that. Carmack is indeed still a leader in innovation. He still brings great ideas like Megatexture to attention. The read/write speeds are literally 100 times faster. The only issues are manufacturing costs and electrons that begin wandering after a few years, both of which they are confident that they can solve and are getting better at.
Such an awesome trailer
That was probably one of the greatest trailers I've ever seen.
John Goodman?
The keynote is on youtube.
They call themselves "The Resistance" So much originality that it practically blew the skin right off my face.
YouTube comments are the best sometimes
The keynote is on youtube.
I love how he starts explaining how you make the game look bad, at around 8:30 :v:
What was that scream at 2:31 Sounds like a fast zombie :v: In other note dear god I've been waiting so long for this game and I can't wait anymore.
That was probably one of the greatest trailers I've ever seen.
What did I miss?
2:31 also reminds me of Just Cause 2 when you grapple someone to a propane tank and launch him into the air.
It's the gut wrenching scream, also known as the Howie Scream.
I love how Carmack still looks like the skinny little nerd he was 20 years ago.
It still just looks like borderlands to me.
Okay, Carmack gained back some respect with the keynote. I'm still pissed about calling his game a revolution when it looks like the baby of Fallout and Borderlands.
It still just looks like borderlands to me.
Look harder.
Look harder.
And start hearing "war, war never changes"
There was some pretty uninspired crap in that trailer, I hope it's still able to redeem itself. I don't think there's a single large game company around that has a talented concept artist anymore or something.

before i watched it i was like "this is gonna be some nerdy ass shit!" i watch it and i was like yep he's going into C/C++ and stuff about filtering and graphics cards still a genius though
