How do people think that The Big Bang Theory is funny?

Not to insult anybody who likes the show, but come on. If you've seen the show you should understand what I'm getting at.
Here's an example:

And before you blame it on the missing laugh track..

"It's time to rock mario old school" I think that speaks for itself.
Their last episode received almost 7 million viewers (and their top rated episode was 16 and a half million viewers) Meanwhile, I just watched what was probably the last episode of Wilfred since it's ratings were mostly under a million this entire season (their most top rated episode was the pilot, with only 1.5 million). While it's certainly no Arrested Development, I think it's a pretty underrated show, especially to The Big Bang Theory.
Here's a guy who pretty much sums what I'm talking about. (Long read, but to get to the main point just hit ctrl v "And here's my issue")

Because it makes people think they are ~nerds~.

But how is does that make it funny? Because of all the pop culture references? Isn't that what people rag on Family Guy all the time for?
because of award winning comedy like this

Because different people find different things funny? You're acting as if nobody could find this funny, when clearly a lot of people do. It's a matter of taste. I don't think it's a very funny show, but other people I know do, I don't ask them what's wrong with them or ask them how they could possibly find it funny, because there's no way to really bridge that difference in opinion.

Yes, but I'm asking what exactly is funny about "Great news. My mom sent me my old Nintendo 64"?

I don't know, I can't answer because I don't find it funny.
Because not everyone in the world over-analyzes & criticizes tv shows.
Like what tigster said, it's all about taste.
I don't watch the show because it makes me feel ~nerdy~, but because it occasionally makes me laugh.
Just because it may say something that I don't personally find funny isn't a just enough reason to stop watching the show. If that were I wouldn't be watching anything anymore.
There are like one or two jokes out of a hundred that I find funny.
I've watched it and laughed a few times. I wish they didn't have sound track though, why do we need to know when we can laugh

Well considering how often this show spitballs references to you like a grease gun, I guess that'd be 4 or so an episode.
laugh tracks are really stupid

Laugh tracks aren't anything new, they're present in every sitcom nowadays. However I'm not saying that they should be present in every sitcom.
laugh tracks are really stupid
But even without the laugh track their humor is awful.

What are you talking about. Does Arrested Development, The Office, It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, etc. mean nothing to you?
I don't find it hilarious but I find it entertaining.
Personally, I enjoy the show. I just like the interaction between the characters. Sure, most of it's "jokes" aren't funny at all, but the characters themselves do have merit.
because HA HA HA NERD REFERENCE
THIS IS HOW NERDS INTERACT
because people have different senses of humor than you
deal w/ it

Oh I do, by not watching it. But the ratings it attains astounds me.
I had a 60 year old professor reference the show in his class just the other day. I'll let you decode that one for yourself.
I enjoyed the show quite a bit during the first couple seasons because it was a show about the unpredictable adventures of 4 socially inept but very intelligent friends. In the last few seasons, it's been the same shit over and over.
WHAT people don't agree with me?! this is a fucking outrage!!

I find it more humorous to watch as nerds get pissed off at a show mocking/trivializing their sub-culture when those same nerds are often found mocking/trivializing other sub-cultures.
It's all fun and games to laugh at others until you're the punchline.

Decide that one?
As in 'make of that what you will'?
What I make of it is that your professor enjoys a show that you don't enjoy
how horrific!

But there's rarely a punchline which is the problem. Just some stupid pop culture reference that somehow is supposed to obtain laughter.
Not everyone has to have the same opinion.
I don't care for it personally, but that's not to say it hasn't made me laugh quite a few times from just watching it when nothing else of interest was on.
[sp]I'm actually kind of fond of the "Soft kitty, warm kitty" song.[/sp]
If you like it, good for you.
If you don't, good for you too, just don't bitch every time it comes into mention just because you don't like it.
Yeah i don't know why the fuck i watch it anymore it's not even funny.
Decide that one?
Um no.. I meant decode..
He's 60 years old and he's a rather lame teacher. The fact that he watches the show, or at least references it, is something I'm trying to say about the show.
And you wouldn't need a Colossus Computer to break that code. *canned laughter*
to people reading the thread for the first time, read the article posted in the OP before you post in this thread, it's a better explanation than what people are posting in here, such as "hurr hurr, people have different tastes"
well what is their rationale for having a taste for TBBT, genius?

The show's popularity says otherwise.
