The specs are as follows:
GIGABYTE EX58-UD3R Motherboard
Geforce GTX 260 896mb Vram
Intel i7 920, designed at 2.66 Ghz but was overclocked by the supplier I bought it from to 3.4
3x2gb Corsair triple channel DDR3 1600Mhz
Corsair TX 650W
Seagate Barracuda 500GB w/ 16MB cache
All of this was bought as one unit fully installed so i doubt its a problem with not enough power etc
the problem is this, i started by putting in my much older and ever so slightly thicker 80gb drive into the bay, after putting it in and powering up i got nothing on the screen, as well as no caps lock/ scroll lock lighting up.
after swapping out almost all the parts, trying 1 stick of ram at a time for example, i was told by tech support to send it back, so i did.
now today i recieved it back, i was elated to find the bios screen loading with a splash of the motherboard type, followed by telling me it requires an operating system. no worries i thought.
but after i put my old drive back in with my OS, i got the same blank screen, no coming out of powersave, no BIOS beebs telling me whats wrong, no keyboard response. Whats worse, it then did this after i replaced all the parts and went back to the first, unformatted 500Gig drive, and tech support refuses to help, the only thing i was told was that, for them, it worked first time.
So now im asking, none of the parts are/were faulty, yet the screen worked a single time, and the hardrive still works now as its what im currently running on my old computer. What could they have done, regardless of whether or not they told me, that would solve it for a single time, and more importantly, what does anyone else suggest i try? right now im thinking clearing the CMOS may fix it, but im running out of ideas.
I wont be looking at it right now, ive been tinkering all day, so ill get to any suggestions tomorrow.
Danké for sifting through this wall of text, and any possible replies.
You bought this right? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-030-OE
I would suggest removing that older drive, and just check everything over. I have the same board, RAM and CPU and pretty much the same PSU. Probably the same case too, although mine's modded. Here's a reference picture of mine:

Note which RAM slots I'm using (that is if you've messed with them). Don't use G-SATA either.

Good eye, thats precicely the one i bought, i have checked the RAM slots, the non triple channel is unused, but i think tomorrow ill check if theyre seated properly, its worth a try. and ive tried with and without my drive in, as well as both connected or neither (which wouldntve helped even if it worked)
but what about the G-SATA, there are 2 cables for the hardrive, one which is a ribbon that has several plugs going along the wires, and another which is much smaller, and theres only one of, although i think another ones fastened in somewhere, does it matter which of the larger ones you use? i.e one at the end of the ribbon instead of the middle? ill google G-SATA, i assumed every drive worked with the same cables and such.
I don't really know what the problem could be, it can only really be hardware failure unless your BIOS messed up somehow. You could try resetting it, but obviously you're going to lose your overclock. Does anything at all appear on the screen when you boot (without the old HDD)?
I suppose the last resort is to just send the entire thing back, as annoying as that is.

Annoying it is indeed, as that was what just happened with them telling me 'it worked for them' >_>
whether they said that to save their skin i dont know, and i dont mind losing my overclock, i could always put it back since they gave it suitable cooling to cope.
The BIOS should be cleared when i take out the CMOS battery for a bit right? assuming there isnt a clear switch on the mobo which would be alot more convinient, and i looked at the GSATA malarkey, seems all mine were plugged into SATA, so thats not a problem, but thats just another thing to check tomorrow i suppose
EDIT: also, despite the fact i was following their orders, theyve told me i voided the warrantey, so sending it back AGAIN is out of the question, not like i would considering how this is going.
What did you do that voids the warranty? That's really bad news if a component is somehow broken. I really can't see why it wouldn't work if you hadn't messed with the BIOS or the actual hardware prior to adding that other HDD. I can only assume you put something back wrong, or that HDD caused a problem elsewhere which is highly unlikely.

To be frank, the guy i phoned today wasnt the same, friendly, helpful guy that organized delivery, and he almost automatically said by putting in my drive i voided it, which is just legal drivel. my main idea is the bios got messed up by the forced turn off i had todo, or some other means. i think ill stop checking this thread, i know abit more about the drives now, thanks. Ill read any replies tomorrow when i try and fix it.
EDIT: oh, and as you said with not putting it back right, im also wondering about that, so ill recheck the RAM and the power cable, which were the 2 things i had to move.
