I'm going to get a logitech mx518 because I've heard a lot of good things about it. Only problem is, I hate the weird silver thing it has going on. Is there any other version of it, maybe with just plain matte black?
No, Logitech only offers the silver one.
You could paint yours, but that would make it feel uncomfortable/weird.
If you don't care for the color of the MX518 you could take a look at the G5 as it is similar and has more color schemes. Though it is a tad more expensive than the MX518.

Your opinion is not the same as his.
There is a different color mouse, different model, same body type and buttons. But I really recommend the MX518, It's an amazing mouse. I've had mine forever and it works great. No button weardown or anything.
