Basically, my mouse will move the cursor, but when i click it, it doesn't detect it. I preferably need a program that will detect mouse button presses and display them so i can tell if its a hardware problem or not, if anyone has any other solutions or ways to see what buttons are being pressed i'd really appreciate it.

In the control panel there's a clicktesting thingy, try that.
Either the mouse is somewhat broken, or restart your computer.
It may happen if its been plugged in when the pc already is running.

PS2 mice won't work at all if plugged in after system power up (Some mobos will try and boot them again for this reason.) USB mice don't give a fuck.
Had the same problem with a Saitek mouse. Only backwards, clicks but cant move. Turns out the onboard inf file for the mouse was corrupt and I just RMAd a new one.
Ok i bought a new mouse, same problem. Last night my old mouse started working normally again, but as soon as i rebooted it did it again and i have no idea what caused it to start working.
