I want to use my current 500 GB as a storage, I have a 1TB I just installed and formatted.
I know there are programs that do it, but there are so many different ones it's hard to sort the good from bad. I just want all of the files on my 1TB, so I can boot from it and it can be my main C: drive.
This is my first time working with a new hard drive, and I'd greatly appreciate some instruction.
Drag and drop
I did that earlier, but it said it was only copying 128GB (Out of about 450). I'm doing it again with the same result.
Is it actually doing all of it, but only displaying 128GB?
Don't drag and drop you need to clone the drive copying the files won't copy the bootsector.
I'm not fimilar with the cloneing programs.
I installed windows on the new HDD, and dragged all of the program files/user data, but the programs files arn't appearing in the start menu, even when searching. I can go into the file and see it, but searching avails nothing!
Any help?
Oh, do I just have to re-install each program? I'm gussing it writes stuff to the harddrive when it installs, and you can't just copy it huh.

You should have used a similar program to http://clonezilla.org/
Or partition magic pro LOL! Ghost32 does fine.
