• Windows 7 Won't Install / Start

All right, so i just got a new computer i ordered from a website, with parts i chose myself. When i had set it up, except the monitor, i turned it on. Then i turned it off after 3 or so minutes, and connected the monitor. Windows 7 now needs me to go into System Restoration ( Choose between Safe Mode, Normal Mode, and Safe Mode with internet etc.) Because the PC was not shut off properly last time. If i enter with Normal Mode, "Starting Windows" displays on the monitor. When the loading bar is full, the screen goes black for 5 or so seconds, until it gets more grey-like, and the monitor says "D-Sub". If i start it in Safe Mode, all the drivers are being loaded. When that is done, the PC tells me eit's preparing Windows for first-time use. (Installation) Then i get a pop-up telling me i can't install windows in safe mode, the computer shuts itself off and on and enters Normal Mode, the way you're meant to install Windows 7. However, i still get the grey screen and nothing appears to be happening. Tl:Dr: Windows 7 won't install, and the monitor goes dark grey. Help?
I assume this is your fist time making a new computer right? Thats no problem, its great you're getting into making your computer yourself instead of getting charged a ridiculous amount of money on an inferior pre-made computer. I think your problem lies within you trying to install windows from within a pre-existing installation of windows, you can do this, but installing within another installation of windows is designed more for testing the OS to see if you like it. For the full installation where you want to replace your current OS, you must make the computer boot from the DVD drive. You should be aware that a full install optimally involves a complete format of the computer's drive, so any data you want to keep should be backed up to another drive or DVD('s). With windows 7 its pretty simple once you boot from the DVD since its almost as easy as installing an application. Getting the computer to boot from the DVD is different between different computers, some involve pushing a key and using the arrow keys to select the device to boot from, whereas other computer require you to enter the BIOS and set the boot order you want (i.e first DVD, then hard drive, etc). Post your motherboard's model and I can try and figure out which you need to do.
