• Odd Temperature with Corsair H100 Watercooler
    10 replies, posted
I just recently brought a Corsair H100 watercooling kit after exchanging a Cosair H80 as it was not working. Before buying any of these coolers i had a Corsair H60 which had an average temp of 40 and on load went up to high 80s. until i brought an Asrock Extreme4 Gen3 and overclocked my cpu to 4.6ghz. I had prime95 running and the average temp is between mid 40's to high 50c's and when under full load around the high 80c's. Are these temps normal? I would also like to note that the h100 did not fit perfectly into the case, when i tried to mount it on the top vents only one side would screw in properly. I also had to enlarge the fan screw holes because the fans could not properly line up with the radiator due to the motherboard being abit too tall. Could this be why its still hot? My specs: (computer is from cyberpower) Case: Coolermaster 430 CPU: i7 2600k 4.6ghz GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 580 1gb superclocked Mobo: Asrock Exteme4 Gen3
Did you clean up and re-apply the thermal paste? Oh and dont buy closed loop water coolers ever again
Did you clean up and re-apply the thermal paste? Oh and dont buy closed loop water coolers ever again
Why would someone not buy a closed loop water cooler? Genuinely interested in pro/con you have in mind. Also check thermal paste, if not the problem then I guess it's fans / air flow over the radiator.

Closed loop coolers can perform better than most air heatsinks, unless you want to install a monstrosity on your board, which requires a huge case and adds tons of weight to the board. They're good devices, every test proves this.

I do not recommend leaving the stock fans on, there are far better fans to put on any closed loop cooler.
No they don't. They consistently perform poorer and more noisily than traditional air coolers of the same price.
They actually cool pretty good. They are just noisy and expensive. (or if you buy new fans for it expensive) Read this. http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1186942&p=36124991#post36124991 or just look at this. Finally, someone who isn't hopping on the bandwagon!

Why on earth would you get the H100?
H100 is double the price of the Dark Rock PRO, noisier and bigger. Why on earth would you get the H100?
Where can I find a dark rock pro for 100? And that's besides the point, the h60, which performs 2c cooler than the h100 is like 50, which isn't too farfetched in terms of cpu cooling price. It's small and not as loud as you think, especially if you replace the fan.
