Atari has put its video game assets up for sale, and they include some standout franchises.

The Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise is yours for a cool $3.5 million (minimum bid). The last game in the series was 2012's RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D, developed by n-Space for Nintendo 3DS.

f you don't fancy that, you could try the Test Drive racing series, available for a mere $1.5 million. Last year Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends, made by Slightly Mad Studios, came out, but fans will remember 2011's Test Drive Unlimited 2 by the now defunct Eden Games more fondly.

If you're low on cash, you could always bid on real-time strategy series Total Annihilation, a snip at a $250,000 minimum bid. The influential Total Annihilation series was designed by Chris Taylor while at Cavedog Entertainment. He's now an employee of World of Tanks maker Wargaming making an unannounced free-to-play game.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-05-23-atari-assets-up-for-sale-rollercoaster-tycoon-for-USD3-5m-test-drive-for-USD1-5m-total-annihilation-for-USD250k
Total Annihilation
Quick, Uber! Start a kickstarter!
Sadly, of every one of those titles, the original was better then the last release.
I swear to god if someone shitty gets RCT I am going to write a letter of complaint.
Roller Coaster Tycoon might be a good IP to invest in with the upcoming Oculus Rift
A quarter of a million for my childhood? I feel robbed.
Maybe some enthusiastic studio will buy roller coaster tycoon and release a really good sequel.
I hope someone picks up TD and it makes it good. TDU2 was an abomination and the TDU1 servers have been shut down.
Watch EA buying it.
roller coaster tycoon deserves better than the 3ds abomination. hope it goes to someone who can do it justice
Roller Coaster Tycoon might be a good IP to invest in with the upcoming Oculus Rift
Though rollercoasters aren't particularly fun without the feeling of it.
Sadly, of every one of those titles, the original was better then the last release.
I liked Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 more than 1. That might be just me since I started with the second one and then decided to look at the other ones.
I liked Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 more than 1. That might be just me since I started with the second one and then decided to look at the other ones.
RCT2 improved a lot of the problems the first one had, but it was lacking in memorable and fun scenarios.
Out of the entire franchise I always preferred the first RTC. I tried playing the second and third one, but it just wasn't as enjoyable imo. It could just be nostalgia talking on my part.

Garry for the love of christ buy RCT
It'd be kickass if Maxis got their hands on Roller Coaster Tycoon (barring another SimCity-like launch debacle). Here's hoping whatever company buys it makes RCT4 better than RCT3.
It'd be pretty neat if those guys making Planetary Annihilation bought the rights to Total Annihilation.
Garry for the love of christ buy RCT
Oh man that would be so kickass! In my opinion you can't do much wrong with a RCT game.
It'd be pretty neat if those guys making Planetary Annihilation bought the rights to Total Annihilation.
And PA got retitled: TA: PA
Garry for the love of christ buy RCT
I'd buy GarryCoaster if given the opportunity.
Fuck, if i was rich, i'd buy this so fast... Then i'd let a dedicated community along with some programmers start reworking RCT 1 and 2 games and update it with everything it deserves...

Do you think they would take an IOU? I just checked my wallet and I'm all out of $3.5 million bills. :<
I thought RCT3 was better than the others. Maybe it should have been better, but it was still an improvement. Not sure what else you can add to such a game to be honest.

Your rides attract more people(units) which you can use to build more rides with. Both sides are competing for the same limited units, so your park has to be working good. Meanwhile you build special units in your attractions, based on how popular they are, and send them out to attack(ie sabotage) your opponent's park. Imagine units bringing elaborate rollercoasters crashing down as the riders scream in terror, while the people on the ground get squashed in bloody smears by tons of virtual steel and wood beams raining down on them! Or you could just send in a spy unit to plug up all the toilets in your opponents restrooms, that should do just as well.
pls some studio other than uber buy TA and make an actual sequel which is good

The TA ip has proven useless. There is nothing in TA that you can't make better in your own IP (like PA for example)
I would only like a new RCT if its going to be based on RCT 3, i don't see how you can make it that different then that and RCT 3 was fun as hell. I just want everything to be more intelligent and more customization options.
