Some one linked me to this the other day. It's clear that they straight up ripped them off. Especially when looking at the Bonekrusha. Almost everything is exactly the same, even the placement of rivets. It's sad to see CnC fall this far.
Holy shit, the smallest details on the CnC tank are the exact same as the Baneblade. What are they doing.
Games Workshop is going to flip a bitch over this.
Games workshop once flipped a shit at a group of people making a free indy movie based on 40k just because they wanted to make physical copies. This? Exterminatus.
Games Workshop is going to flip a bitch over this.
I reckon they might even have enough grounds to sue. The placement of minuscule details (like the previously mentioned rivets, and rivets are serious business in 40k) are exactly the same on most surfaces. It's one thing for the chassis to be the same, but for most of the details to be the same? There's absolutely no way at all that it's a coincidence. That shit just doesn't happen.
Oh, well this just came up
Games Workshop and EA are aware of the IP issues around the artwork in question, which have now been resolved. The artwork was internal EA concept art that was unintentionally released publicly. No Warhammer 40,000 tanks have ever made an appearance in Command and Conquer Tiberium Alliances, and never will. Games Workshop and EA continue to have a strong relationship working together on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and the new free to play game Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes which just entered open beta. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/04/13/ea-explains-copied-warhammer-40k-designs.aspx
Oh man, I was hoping EA would get their asses sued. :saddowns:
Ahahah. Those two tanks aren't even similar, they're fucking identical in every tiny way.
They didn't even bother making it look different. Might as well call it baneblade too.
The artwork was internal EA concept art that was unintentionally released publicly.
Reeks of an excuse "oh this, this is just concept art, no way we're gonna turn concept art into an ingame asset no sireebob!" Meanwhile, if this hadn't been pointed out, they'd have gone ahead with it.
The sad part is that the W40k style doesn't fit what the C&C style is supposed to be at all Seriously how to you get boxy hard-steel techno-gothic scifi out of this:

There's your problem. EA just insta-fucked Command and Conquer the second they touched it. Yes, even Generals, at least in my opinion. It could have worked if it didn't have the CnC label slapped on it to boost sales I guess but that's besides the point. Anyway, it's like they set out to unravel everything good about CnC. They fucked over the aesthetic for GDI and Nod, royally screwed up their technology (and added shitty reasoning as to why) and removed the fucking massive mutation aspect of tiberium which was one of my personal favourite parts of the tiberium series (again, giving really shitty "explanations" as to why) in Tiberium Wars. Don't even get me started on RA3. The point is, don't expect EA to stick to Westwood's cool stuff.
I wish they went back to Tiberian Sun style C&C games.

C&C died when westwood fell, C&C3 was decent but it's the last decent thing EA ever did
Oh i missed the days as a child playing C&C Tiberium Sun such an amazing universe before EA
I agree. Still today I remember the great nights I had playing through the campaign, it was so gritty and dark. You felt that the world was fucked and apocalyptic, the mutants, war, collapsed cities and tiberium made it so great. Besides the soundtrack was terrific. I was never immersed so much in an RTS than in Tiberium Sun. Mulitplayer was also great, I always played with a friend the whole night where we only built epic bases with cool defenses. Then we duked it out together.
I had a love affair with Tiberian Sun. even the frustratingly difficult expansion, Firestorm EA is responsible for destroying so many of my favorite early games and developers... Westwood and Bullfrog in particular
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/oTju1.jpg[/img_thumb] holy literal fuck I'm really hoping EA gets sued over this
you guys are so late.
