• Looking for good monitor for gaming

Hey. I currently have 2 monitors, My Acer P243w (24") and my Samsung SyncMaster P770 (27" I believe). I am now looking for a third one. Preferably a LOT like the p243w monitor (best monitor I've ever had). Every thing looks sharp and it's just great over all. I have the problem with my SyncMaster that it is kind of blurry-ish compared to my P243w. Things I'd prefer the new monitor had. 24" or 27" 1920x1200 Same or alike characteristics as the P243w Clear Glass (not one of those blurred ones to decrease reflected light) Physical buttons (none of that touch crap) If you need more information feel free to ask. //ZibbeZabbe
How much are you willing to spend? This is quite a good option since it's IPS and 1920x1200 My friend has one and it looks pretty damn good. It's at a decent price too since he paid £300 for it originally
why not just get another P243w?
Thanks deano270 for the tips. Seems like a great monitor :)
why not just get another P243w?
Because they are not produced anymore and can't find a used one.
How do people rate that Dell? I have a BenQ XL2420T 120hz monitor that i'm returning due to clouding across the centre of the screen. Also, the colours could be better. Should I go back from that monitor to one of these which is a 60hz? (my card is a 670). Or should I pick up one of these at the end of the year if cheaper? (sorry for taking over thread)
If you're willing to spend the money, I recommend a 120 Hz monitor. Gameplay will appear much smoother.
If you're willing to spend the money, I recommend a 120 Hz monitor. Gameplay will appear much smoother.
This. Had to refund and buy a new monitor due to clouding across the centre of the screen, so back on my old 1680x1050 60hz monitor and it just feels really slow, especially moving mouse on the desktop. I also feel like i've lost 10-20 fps in games now, so can't wait to get my new one. Also, do people recommend the BenQ XL2420T or the Samsung 750D one? BenQ has a very nice matte screen, however colours aren't the best. Samsung apparently has better colours but a reflective screen? I'm not too sure. Also, the samsung is a 27" as opposed to 24".
Wouldn't recommend the 27" version of the 120hz samsungs - the pixel density is nearing TV levels. Get the S23A700D, and contrary to some reviews I'd say they have glossiness done right - it looks gorgeous next to a matte monitor and is just as usable even at very low brightness
Sell both old monitors and buy new ones.
If you ask me, they all look the same.
Do not get an IPS monitor for gaming, they look better from more angles but they have a lot of input lag. 120hz monitors feel really good while playing games but cost a lot. if you get a CRT they can easily reach 120hz and theyre only $5~50 most people say they even have less blur with 120hz
Do not get an IPS monitor for gaming, they look better from more angles but they have a lot of input lag.
It's generally the most expensive IPS monitors that do have these lag problems. Otherwise, it's mostly okay.

Those ones has almost perfect color reproduction at the cost of terrible response times. The Dell 2412M mentioned on this page though is an eIPS, which is perfect for gaming. It doesn't feature the full color pallet like a "real" IPS does, but it is still much much better than your average TN panel at almost no cost in percivable response time. I have one, it's great. Very high build quality, you can use it in portrait mode if you want, lots of features/stand flexibility (great for multi monitor setups), etc. There is only one downside and that is that it has IPS glow, like all IPS screens. As in, if you are looking at a mostly dark/black scene, there will be a very mild glow effect that dramatically reduces contrast whereever there is black. You'll only notice this on your periphrial vision, so for me, I only notice it on the corners of the screen if I am playing a game that is very very dark. As you can see its only really noticable at extreme angles on black backgrounds/scenes.

Don't buy Acer, their build quality is abysmal. I wouldn't have high expectations for their monitors
I have had an Acer 21 inch widescreen monitor for about 5 years now and its been great so far.
I have an Asus monitor at the moment for about a year since getting my new computer and it's been working to perfection.
ACER gd235hz 120z here and its a fucking beast ! Its pretty cheap now. I still have a 19" 4:3 8year old lcd screen and its still working perfectly acer make awesome screen
I have had an Acer 21 inch widescreen monitor for about 5 years now and its been great so far.
This is irrefutable proof that every Acer monitor is fantastic.
