Getting my phones internet connection to my computer

I have wifi connection on my phone but on my computer it gets turned off at 11 pm. I was wondering if there was a way to use my phone as a access point and not use data. Also does tethering use data if my phone has data usage set as off?
Do you mean that you want to NOT use your home internet connection (cable, DSL, etc.) and instead want to use the internet from the cellular network through your phone? If that's the case, how you do it can depend on the specific model of phone and its carrier. And yes, in such a case it does take up data usage, unless you have some special data plan.
By the way you might find better help in the Hardware & Software section, just saying for next time.
Set your phone to tethering mode and connect to your phone's internet via your computer's wifi. Yes it will use data on your phone, it won't work with data usage turned off.
That's not what he's talking about. How is your connection on your desktop getting shut off? Is a parent/someone using the router to automatically cut your connection at 11?
Mobile phones are not designed to function as a network bridge - but you can manage it in a limited fashion with bluetooth.

You can use USB tethering, which can work from both WiFi and mobile data.

On Android it's quite easy: Go to your settings > More > Tethering and mobile hotspot.
If your phone is one that came from a contract with a carrier, it may lock that ability. If you do try to bypass it, make sure carrierIQ is removed from the device entirely. Your carrier more than likely use this spyware and upcharge you for tethering.
