• Question: Are you a gun nut?

Well, after countless hours of sifting through the compilation known as the internet, I've come to notice two things: One, is that people are usually stupid. Two, is that there are a lot of fucking gun nuts. So tell me, are you one of either of the categories, or ...... both:v:? Really, this is to give an idea of the sheer number of people who value their knowledge in firearms who make home here, on facepunch. If you know a little about guns, please, go ahead and compare knowledge, though that would be a secondary point of this thread.
I love guns a lot, I find them really interesting; mostly because you are not able to get them in England, if I lived in the states then I might grow tired of them after a while.

Except I'm not really all that interested in them. It'd be nice to have a rifle to do target practice or something. I've shot tin cans with air rifles before (lol?) and that's quite fun.
I guess I would consider myself a gun nut. Don't get me wrong though, the one thing constantly on my mind when I am around any type of firearm is safety on all levels. But I do love firearms. I do live in the USA, and believe it or not it does not get boring no matter how much you fire guns. I think that's because there is a lot of thought you have to put into it if you want to "do it right", for example knowing what kind of ammunition you are using, how it differs from other types of the same caliber ammunition, what barrel has what twist and this and that, checking out new shooting styles and stances, but really the list goes on forever. And it keeps it interesting, because you are always taking these things into consideration, and then watching the effects of the changes you make to your weapons system. You might look at a wikipedia page for any number of firearms and be blown away by all the terminology and numbers, but everything all tends to link together and after reading up about it several times, you begin to really understand it.
Guns are outlawed here.
I don't want one tbh
Nope.
A bit. I like guns and know a lot of them, but I don't study their characteristics by heart or anything.
Don't give a fuck about guns I'll never use. I just want kids who play Call of Duty to stop thinking they know their guns since they play that piece of shit.
I loveeeee guns, I think I have been ever since I got my first .22 singleshot rifle when I was 5, and within the past year and a half have been really into them, I got 3 Mosin Nagants, one with a PU scope, a Yugoslavian SKS, various shotguns, and my next purchase will be an M38 carbine Nagant.
Zergling, you wouldn't happen to be russian would you?
nope
No. I like guns but I wouldn't consider myself a geek about them. But I do hate it when people base their knowledge of guns off Call of Duty. :argh:
No I am a peanut
I really hate gun nuts who get angry when someone says a wrong fact. It bothers me more than anything else :<
Guns needs alot more restrictions
I absolutely think guns should be legal and have been shooting once, but I didn't enjoy it at all. Being around guns just makes me super nervous. I don't think that qualifies me as a gun nut.
I'm a target shooter and a big fan of .22 Long Rifle weapons. I co-own my dad's twelve-gauge shotgun and .22 semi-automatic rifle (I'm not sure of the models), but I tend to rent other guns more often. I'm not a hunter and I've never used one in self-defense, but I do play league airsoft (I own a Classic Army M4 Carbine, too, even if it's not a real gun). I guess I treat guns more like a sporting tool than a weapon. I originally got into it when I was learning to write and wanted to learn how real firearms operated, but then, out of curiosity, I tried renting the guns from Counter Strike to see how they controlled in real life. Here's what I learned: -Firing a gun is like taking a picture: the steadier you keep the gun while pulling the trigger, the more accurate the shot. -Guns sound more like fireworks than what is portrayed in movies. They're also much louder and require hearing protection to fire. -I tend to like closed sights more than open sights, since open sights don't really tell me exactly where I'm shooting. -The AK-47 is a BEAST to control, but still pretty fun to shoot (you can just feel the power). -Pistols are much harder to control than rifles, and Glocks are downright scary since the safety is on the trigger itself. -Hollow point rounds do spark upon hitting a surface. In fact, it doesn't have to be a metal surface; that spark is the bullet splintering apart. -Aim low with shotgun slugs, because they kick like a mule. -Scoped weapons are absolutely terrible at hitting anything at close range. -Shotguns are much easier to load than pistol magazines or rifle magazines since they load directly into the gun. With pistols and rifles, you have to load in each individual bullet into each mag, and the more bullets you put in, the harder it becomes to load. -Unless you're absolutely keeping count, you will not know how much ammo you have left. -Gun smoke has a minty aftertaste. -Many guns, often more rifles than pistols, don't have a noticeable muzzle flash; often due to a flash hider. -Shooting left-handed with a gun that ejects shells out the right side is not a particularly good idea. Freshly-ejected shells are piping hot, and you do NOT want them flying into your face. -It is advisable to wash your hands thoroughly after loading and firing firearms. Keep in mind that bullets are either made of lead or have a lead core, so if you're handling bullets, you're handling lead. -Revolvers aren't necessarily more accurate than semi-automatic pistols. Most revolvers are double-action, meaning that the firing hammer pulls back when you pull the trigger, while a semi-automatic is single-action, meaning you can just tap the trigger and the gun will fire. In my experience, I find it harder to control double-action weapons, since my hand tends to shake while pulling the trigger, and even cocking the hammer back is a challenge: not only is the hammer pretty hard to pull, but slipping up may mean firing the gun too early. There is one advantage to revolvers, though: they are much easier to load than pistol magazines. Plus, it gives me an excuse to point out any inconsistencies about guns in movies, books, or comics.
I don't know, am I? [editline]3rd January 2011[/editline]
Guns needs alot more restrictions
:frog:
I find them fairly interesting. Haven't shot one myself, though I will do when I do national service in August.
I like them for their ingenious mechanism and appearance. Otherwise, they still are made to kill and that's a shame, though I support using those in practice shooting, because it's a good way to improve your concentration and accuracy along with your ability to focus on something. I'd like to have some guns, but just to have them, not to use them or anything. If I had the money and the ability I would probably buy a hunting rifle, remove a crucial part so I can't shoot with it, and find some empty shells. Just for decoration.
I hate how people say guns kill people. If guns kill people, itd be the guns in jail not the murderer
I hate how people say guns kill people. If guns kill people, itd be the guns in jail not the murderer
Also, here's a classic quote. "If guns kill people, I can blame misspelled words on my pencil." -Larry The Cable Guy
I hate how people say guns kill people. If guns kill people, itd be the guns in jail not the murderer
It's a TOOL used to kill people. Whatever the sentence is, the idea is the same. People die if you use it against them.
It's a TOOL used to kill people. Whatever the sentence is, the idea is the same. People die if you use it against them.
just as many people get killed by kitchen knives just sayin
Guns needs alot more restrictions
The only gun restrictions I can support: You cannot own a firearm if you have... 1. been convicted and/or jailed for criminal activity (foreign or domestic). 2. a history of substance abuse. 3. mental health issues. Assuming you do live in a country with firearms freedom (to some varied extent), I could care less if you choose to not have a gun but don't go ahead and take mine's.
Fuck no. Sorry, I have no interest in devices made to harm or kill other human beings.
Stop living in happy dandy land, pretty much anything can kill you. Did you know that drinking too much water at once can upset the balance of your bodily electrolytes and lead to your death? It's called water intoxication, it's different from drowning.
I'm interested in guns and all, but I wouldn't consider myself a gun nut. I'm not smart enough to be one, most of what I know is pretty basic.
just as many people get killed by kitchen knives just sayin
Except that guns are made for killing, it's their originate goal. It's not because everything can kill you that you must create more ways to die. But yeah, it's also used for non living target shooting and that's a good thing for the reasons I said before. In fact the only really bad thing about guns are the trigger happy dumb fucks. The ones that just take their gun out for anything, and holy shit are they numerous (most of them in the US but that's one if not the only country in the North Hemisphere that allows almost anyone to have a gun so it's kind of inevitable in that case)
I don't think you comprehened my post 100%. I said devices made for killing/harming human beings.
Yes it's true that firearms were developed and are still are meant for bodily harm, but no you can never get rid of them. You have to learn to live with the harsh reality of such where there are criminals who own firearms, usually by illegal means. Even in China, the freaking origin of gunpowder and early guns, cannot disarm domestic gangs (especially the Triads) with full-on gun control.
Again, you fail to comprehend my post. I have no idea why you're going off on a tangent telling me to accept the presence of guns. My OP stated that I have no interest in them, and I gave my reason. Period. I know they exist. I don't like them. Got it? I don't see what is so hard.
Okay, got it. Sorry.
guns are dangerous :saddowns:
