Seven Wonders declared the winners of the second annual Seven Wonders of Cities campaign for the year 2015. Five of the original cities retained their title as "Wonder City" with two newcomers that included Tokyo and Singapore. The original 7 Wonders of Cities for 2014 were declared using statistical significance and a collection of various polls. The campaign for 2015 incorporated the same statistical significance, but voting was opened up to the public.
Expected cities like New York City, London, and Paris took early leads and held strong throughout the voting campaign. Rio de Janeiro and Bangkok were both original "Wonder City" winners that fought hard but lost their title for 2015.
The greatest competition for newcomers to the winners list occurred in Asia with Tokyo and Singapore beating out stiff competition from Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Dubai. Dr. Phillip Imler, President of Seven Wonders, stated, "I was surprised that potentially competitive cities did not nominate their own city."
New York City received the most votes as the best city in the world. "When you consider the array of iconic facets and characteristics of New York City, it is no wonder that it led the campaign in votes," Imler noted. London was second with all other winners shifting in placement.
The 2015 winning "Wonder Cities" include: New York City, Paris, London, Istanbul, Tokyo, Sydney, and Singapore. Apart from noting the New York City received the most votes, the remainder of the list is in random order. Vote now to help your favorite city earn the title of "Wonder City."
I kind of expected those 3 to be the top :v:
I went to Paris once. It was dirty and everyone was rude. People overrate that rusty telephone pylon.
How is that #3?!
The original collection of wonder city candidates was gathered based on a variety of statistical significance and a review of various polls identifying favorite and most traveled cities. The wonder city candidate list is not considered to be exclusive, the a variety of factors are considered when city nominations are made. Seven Wonders examines population, attractions, accomplishments, and overall appeal to the global community.
It shouldn't be that surprising. Also, a fuckton of China tourist travels there.
Istanbul is a bit of a surprise. I barely even know of it beyond recognizing the name.
I don't see Boston on this list, so I and the rest of New England declare it null and void.
"World's Top Cities [sp]if you have a bunch of money[/sp]"
What do you want to bet that at least half the people who voted for new York have never even stayed there, or been there at all?
Top Overrated Cities I guess
London is proper shit. Would rather go to Somalia.

Istanbul(Constantinople) was the capital of the Ottoman Empire(now Turkey) until it's fall in 1922..
I'd love to go because of it's rich history and cultural significance.

I guess you have never been to Somalia then.

Also the capital of the (Eastern) Roman Empire from 330 to 1453.

You all talk funny and think you're Irish.
Paris is awesome if you know where to go. It's not that dirty compared to other cities in Europe. Like, I enjoyed Paris a lot more than London (I'm not sure what people consider so great about London, really. It's a huge city full of financial stuff and businesses. I found Canterbury and Dover to be a lot more charming, for example.)
I've only been to New York once but as soon as I got off the plane the mayor personally took a shit right on my face and told me to fuck off.

The streets smell like piss and everyone smokes.
In my (very) limited experience as a somewhat broke student, I didn't like London that much. Spikes and CCTV everywhere, not very hospitable. Also pretty expensive.
Edit:
but the museums have some neat stolen archeological stuff and some crazy famous art, and most of them are free
I've always heard Paris is an absolute shit-hole, even a french guy said he would never want to live there (Rude people and generally bad place).
What's so bad about Paris? Maybe you guys went to the tourist spots.
On the only night I was there, I met up with my cousin and her friends. They lived in Rennes, Paris, so it was a bit off the tourist areas. I thought it was really nice, didn't smelled bad, people were friendly. And had some really good french food. They were also kind enough to let us stayover at their place for 1 night before we left for normandy.
Also, it was hilarious when I got up in the middle of the night and heard some young french guys singing Bohemian Rhapsody in french :v:

That they ever "won" that title should say enough about this list.
honestly, big cities in general tend to be pretty shit when you're not just visiting (or not filthy rich)
New York City, Paris, London, Istanbul, Tokyo, Sydney, and Singapore
I can't comment on Istanbul - but of those, Tokyo was my favourite by far
New York, London and Paris could be giant craters filled with bones and rubble and they'd still be on top ten lists just out of reflex and stereotypes.

London is a great place to go, yes it has it's shit parts but you don't just end up in those areas by accident because there is fuck all there, so in that respect it's no more dangerous than any other city on that list, They speak English so there's no language barrier (if you come from an English speaking country that is), there's a fuck load of things to see and do, it's clean (in the good area's) and there's a fantastic nightlife.
But the biggest factor here is money, if you have it then London is a brilliant place to visit / live , if you don't then London is a cold unwelcoming city full of wankers. No different to any other city in my experience.

If you go to Paris without all the romanticism and high expectations then it's a cool charming (still rude and weird) city, still a lot better then Rome, at least Paris is subtle, Rome is super sketchy up front.
Top Overrated Cities I guess
That's exactly what the list is, considering it's user voted and all media portrays New York as the greatest city to ever been built, the average person will always say new york even if they never have been there or if they have never been to any other city. Tokyo should be a lot higher it's such a sick place, especially if you like to party.

Trust the Swede to defend Somalia.
Paris sucks so much that the asian tourists who spend all of their life savings on visiting the town sometimes kill themselves afterward because they were so disappointed.

I guess that makes two dirty, rude cities with an overrated oxidized French monument.
