Huh, this was a weird week. We get a recap episode (Episode 5.5?) where Pito and M recount what happened in Squad Jam... over the exact same clips as in the previous episode. Maybe I missed out on this being announced beforehand, but felt weird to have this kind of episode instead. Oh well, it was fun to see how resident nutjob reacted to all that happened (not to mention how M masterfully narratively glid over the incident where he tried to kill LLENN so he could resign), plus the post-credits silliness was chuckleworthy.
Almost skipped this week's episode because recap, but someone linked me a webm of one of the post-credits scenes and I thought it was a joke so I watched the episode. Glad I did.
Same. I was gonna ignore it but it was actually pretty fun. Why can't all recaps be like this.
Whewh, things really took up a notch in episode 6. Wasn't expecting M to look like that in real life, to be honest. And when he went off on a tangent about the person behind Pitohui being an obsessive nutjob SAO, I half expected her to turn out to be a former PKer or something. Fortunately, it was instead more of an elaborate setup, which - given her crazy personality - works out just as fine in my eyes. Hopefully we'll see just what actually made her so crazy in the first place, even more so hoping it's well-written. Also, Karen thinking to herself how backwards the "kabedon scenario followed by confession to a wholly different person" scenario was pretty damn funny. And now, a fun little Japanese language tidbit I found - after finding it earlier in a random Tsurezure Children video's comment section - the way Goushi (aka M) said how he "loves her" about the one behind Pitohui, he uses "Aishiteruze"  instead of "Daisuki". Aishiteruze is, from what I've looked into this, a much more intense way to proclaim love for someone, which isn't the common way to say it - thus "daisuki" is used instead. The more you know :rainbow: We're barely over the first Squad Jam, but now we're already heading for the 2nd edition, judging by the buildup during this episode. Plus, we're gonna see just how big of a nerd Shinohara is for GGO. Though now I feel bad for spoiling myself as to what avatar she has for the game, damn MyAnimeList and googling!
Really looking forward to Karen finding out who Pito is, also excited for smol grenade launcher next episode
squad jam 2 let's goooooo I'm really enjoying this show, not gonna lie. can't wait for irl pito to show up.
I guess I don't have to use spoilers :v
The legendary wall slam move
Another good episode, this Squad Jam should be interesting especially when LLENN is exploiting the meta by having a squad entirely of smol girls. Also don't have to worry about your partner being a noob if they're using explosive weapons. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1218/08c82550-c7ec-4268-9011-eeeeca4e2bad/3453466.gif
llenn gonna fall to friendly fire, calling it now
Took me a while longer to be able to gander at the newest episode, but it was worth the personal delay. Still feeling bummed out I accidentally spoiled myself earlier on whose avatar the grenadier loli was, but I still managed to get surprised when she first loaded in :v she's gonna channel her inner demoman alright with grenade launcher spam. The creepy character-collecting dude from the original GGO anime was a fun little cameo, wonder if other characters will make an appearance. I recall maybe Sinon, but I'm not sure where that information comes from. One little animation/drawing hiccup I noticed was LLENN's gun staying stationary even when her already tight cone of fire changed direction drastically to take down the other NPC, but it's a small detail that isn't the end of the world With a little bit of comedy on the side, the ending buildup was enjoyable. I reckon we'll have a jolly time finding out who the masked members of PM4 team are.
That episode ended too quickly, was really good. I like how Fuka instantly fucked up and then redeemed herself immediately by fucking up a squad with grenade spam. Typical FPS noobs. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1218/1cfac686-d48a-46d1-b92c-2e90c93e784f/4235366.gif Also this scene.
The first shootout scene with LLENN had me holding my breath, it's great to see sick plays from her based on prior experiences and skills. Also, Pitohui's villain laugh should be a ringtone :vv
Well at least Fuka didn't fucking TK Llenn right off the bat. Also, wtf grenade launcher OP af volvo pls nerf
LLENN is now a bloodthirsty killing machine holy heck. The pink bunny fangs are indeed very sharp
And with a new episode, we get to see Pitohui in action. Dare I say she's a monster, it was fun seeing her wreck shit up while being the nutjob we know she is. M really knows how to pull off some sick strats. Then came the dome fight, and using pink smoke was downright devilishly clever. Glad to see tactical genius from LLENN, using Bullet Lines and nagging to herself about wasting ammunition. Also, somebody needs to make a gif of Fuka batting away at her enemy with the gun. Didn't honestly expect her to fulfill her end of the bargain Clarence proposed, even when it was revealed she was a girl afterwards. I prepared for the bunny girl to just say "close your eyes" and stick the P90 barrel against her cheek :v The foes so far have been nameless mooks at best, but now we'll start to get to the even better stuff with the MMTM making their arrival in the dome. My money's on the amazons also getting there soon, causing it to become a three-sided firefight.
This week LLENN whores herself out for ammo and Fuka bludgeons a necrophiliac lolicon to death. I can't wait for their adventures next week. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1218/191e7c26-0002-4a38-8776-09219a8b5ae4/1528621741765.jpg
Couldn't help myself, had to do this :v https://im2.ezgif.com/tmp/ezgif-2-a0e1dd0b27.gif
Your link in dead bro.
Cheers, I should've gone and reuploaded it properly.
And now comes Episode 10. This series really is some of the hypest shit around. My prediction from before - about teams LM, SHINC and MMTM doing a three-side fight - was thrown out the window, and I suppose it's only fair enough. After all, while the SHINC are competitive about beating LLENN, they're still normal people who of course would help with Pitohui :v Seeing another mention of Sinon in good taste was a nice callback, but I wonder if it's just me that got "bipolar Sinon" vibes from the green-haired chick that almost killed Pitohui. Anyway, the fight scene between M and one of the mercs against SHINC was cool one, but at the end of it, I severely questioned why 'Boss' was able to do radio comms with another team's member. Maybe squad leaders can communicate with each other, or something? Well, it didn't detract from that sniper shot surprising me thoroughly. Yes, even when the culprit was clearly shown getting away. Yes, even when she was clearly shown equipping a sniper. Sue me :v It was enjoyable to have add some last-moment characterization to the mercenaries of PM4 before the remaining three got merked, I figured they'd just be these blank-personality drones. Then, a whole different thing to talk about is the last scene. Ho. Ly. Shit. The buildup to the photon sword was intense as fuck - save for the awkward angle for when that dude dodged a shotgun blast. The music keeping quiet till the photon sword pierces through the wall was well-executed, and it really played well with the way she just butchers the two guys while still behind the wall. She was really summoning her inner shitlo- Sithlord there :v I was legit concerned if the PM4 would pull through the MMTM's assault, but Pitohui really put all that equipment to use she had to so flashily put on beforehand. Let's see how pink bunny fares against shitlord Sithlord.
I now forgive Sword Art Online for existing because we wouldn't have gotten this anime otherwise
I like GGO:A overall but I find Pitohui to be an incredibly unengaging antagonist.
Most characters' reactions to random bullshit really takes me out of the moment It's a fucking video game. Save for the few people in on Pitto's batshittery, why are fuckers screaming in genuine fear and writhing in pain?
IIRC Gun Gale Online has its pain simulation at a much higher level than most fulldive VR games, and it's even more suspectible to psychological impact on players than non-VR videogames. You know, since you're not just looking at a monitor with headphones on; you can feel the world with all your senses. Even non-horror games can startle or spook players depending on the scenario. People like Pitohui probably aren't common in the game, so that's why her carefree attitude is just absolutely frightening for others.
This episode was really good but I hate Pito's Kirito-esque bullshit. There was a lot of cool shit happening but this is what stood out to me. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1218/105de3b7-f5d7-45d7-89f3-913ea5acdc00/chrome_2018-06-17_18-00-29.png The fuck was she up until this point?!
