Yeah I finished AoT S1 now but I have a fuck ton of questions, it was pretty confusing.
Not planning to watch them any time soon, but are shows like DBZ/Naruto worth watching if I've never seen them? I gather they're decent but also have a lot of low/boring parts. Are they actually worth watching without nostalgia vision?
The original Dragon Ball, yes. Z and onwards, not really IMO. They're fun in their own right but if you have no previous experience with them they're not all that amazing. The original is the only one that really holds up without being constantly bogged down by pointless shit, arcs go by relatively fast and there's no power level fuckery that makes every character irrelevant.
DBZ is cool if you allow yourself to skip whatever you don't enjoy and have an episode guide handy to avoid fillers. Reading it however is a better deal.
I would recommend DBZ for the sheer amount of cliches and memes it birthed, if nothing else.
You can always watch dragon ball z kai, the official edited version that removes all the filler and fixes the pacing massively.
But then you don't get to see the legendary Driving School episode!
that is a shame, but you also lose the episode that is 99% trunks powering up with no story.

Still feeling a bit iffy on the 3d and the character designs are jarring coming off of reading manga for something like 18 months, but damn those animations are expressive.

Damn you weren't kidding. Finished S2 now and I'm still so confused. I get you don't want to give away the whole story too soon but watching a show where basically nothing anyone does makes any sense is just painful. I was getting pretty interested around the middle of S1 but tbh I don't really like the direction it's gone. Not sure if I'll bother with S3.
Guess I'll probably give Hunter x Hunter a shot next.

I'm so used to the round head design, and frankly think it's objectively better. Is it easier to animate with the snout, or why else would they make it so?
I'm 90% sure it's based off of the references for the light novel, but I can't bring up very many references searching google images.
