Err, with a title like "Goblin Slayer" I dunno how you came to the conclusion it'd be goofy unlike "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" which doesn't seem to be super serious based on its title.
I was expecting some edginess but this is like babby's first ~~grimdark~~ LN
Well yeah, but the manga is like that (from what I've read) soooo...
I am thankful that Zombieland Saga exists yo
tbf this whole beginning part didn't exist in the original work and was just a very small part of the LN so I am not sure why the manga and the anime decide to stretch it out. I enjoyed the main cast of the story so I could somewhat ignore the lackluster setting and side characters but for some reason they decided to put emphasis on probably the weakest part of the whole thing?
I just wished they toned down the producer's character a bit. Or maybe more than a bit.
The beginning part was like the first two chapters of the manga.
As well as it doesn't have a little sister that wants to fuck the MC, it's still not the most awkward show to watch with family.

Several anime start bluntly by putting some big event in the first episode and only start with the "Hello. My name is MC. 16 years old. My blood type..."-stuff in the second episode. So I think Goblin Slayer has more plot, worldbuilding and character stuff in episode 2. I thought this was common knowledge by now. I still remember the initial backlash of the first episode of Tanya.
There's spin-off manga/stories for the character stuff and world building. Main manga is about killing goblins.
plenty of worldbuilding as well as character stuff in the main series, you just learn more about the slayer in the year one spinoff rather than the main series.
Does CR only blocks the most recent episodes from newest releases or will I have to wait till a season is over and might have to aim for Linux Distros?
Ninja Slayer exists so you can't take an anime's title seriously anymore
crunchyroll simulcasts are one week delayed for free users, so when episode 2 airs for premium free users get episode 1 etc
Ah. Gotta wait for a week for my dose of edgy anime, then. Is GS anywhere close to 80's anime worth of edge?
True, but that just furthers the point of assuming the tone of an anime by just its title as kinda silly.
Good god Goblin Slayer seems divisive. First episode seemed fine to me though. Some good, studio White Fox quality.
There's literally one episode of Goblin Slayer out. There wasn't even time to develop literally anything because it's the first episode of many. You would think people would wait it out to see if it became good.
People are blowing it way out of proportion because of a rape scene.
I thought it was cool and dope
So yeah, just got around to watching the first episode of Goblin Slayer. I thought it was alright, nothing mind blowing but it wasn't terrible either. Art was good, although I dunno why they kept alternating between having MC-kun in CGI and regularly animated especially since he was doing anything that would have been hard to animate. Iirc this basically followed the first chapter of the manga so the next few eps we'll be getting some plot and character development. It was a decent enough introductory episode.
Goblin Slayer isn't really that interesting until a bit later when it starts revealing his character and he's actually a really pitiable guy. Also haven't bothered to watch Slime Datta Ken because I personally think the Manga is overrated as fuck.
fight me
I find Slime to be the most comfy one out of all the overpowered Isekai Reincarnation stuff.
I dunno about anyone else but I really like intelligent OP MC's. Makes a nice change from weak idiots every once and a while.
I like intelligent MC's, but I personally don't like them being OP. I like to see them try and overcome things through wits and their relevant experiences and not just stats.
I actually started laughing uncontrollably when Tae's head flew off
I dislike when a writer only writes a "smart" protagonist where they're only intelligent because everybody else is a massive retard, and in Goblin Slayer's case every single fan I've talked to has said that everybody in that universe except for Goblin Slayer himself is a colossal retard.. It's way easier to write a scenario where it's less that the protagonist is smart and more that everybody around them is a complete idiot. For a good example of this look at every anime where a character is supposed to be a brilliant tactical mastermind, but their plans only look good because their enemies stagger in straight lines into obvious traps and chokepoints with no real plan or strategy besides attacking blindly.
goblin slayer is only OP against goblins
