I have acquired an 80's Devilman OVA 1 dub on tape. I am going to enjoy the increase of Fuck's per Minutes this guarantees.
Well if it isn't my old pal Ryo! How the hell have you been keeping?
Pocket MAL won't even work for me now to edit episodes watched or chapters read.
Hugtto Precure is probably the best Precure series thus far, I can't believe the quality has held up this long.
Usually the quality is good for the first 10 or so eps, and then it drops. But, the EDs, character development, the action, comedy, and topics covered is above and beyond what I've seen from this series to this point.
I'll spoiler tag this next few bits, but its what I've seriously enjoyed from this run so far;
-The physical fighting is on point and choreographed well, I posted a gif a while ago with Cure Yell fighting a monster-of-the-week as an example
-The ending sequences are catchy and well animated, this new one especially. The Precures' VAs sing them, usually they have someone else do it
-The Baby has been a pleasant surprise, easily the best baby, not counting Haa-chan from Mahou Tsukai(I highly doubt Hug-tan is gonna be a Precure)
-The villains have a ton of character, and the business aspect of it all reminds me of Yes Precure 5.
-Lulu's entire arc was amazing and well done, and she's so gay for the token nano-desu character(I joke, these two are the best)
-Lulu's "death" was shocking and abrupt for a Precure show in recent memory, legit gasped out loud
-Amour and Ma Cherie are easily the current best parts of the show, they cock their guitars like rifles before they coupe de grace
Oh yeah, the new ED;

Aside from that, this season is pretty good too so far. Love Cells at Work and Asobi Asobase the most, and disappointed by Chio's School Road's first ep(Read the manga thanks to it being mentioned here).
Pretty much.
According to their announcement, only the Anime/Manga Database, Character/People Database, Private Messages, News, Notifications, and Profile Management systems are up and running.
So no Forums or API at the moment.
So the Violet Evergarden OVA is out, and it looks like Google Translate has started a sub group based on how shit the only available subs are.
Probably because every subber worth their salt has realised it sucks
just finished watching the entirety of Dragonball Z Kai in under 2 weeks, that was exhausting. Not an episode skipped
obligatory Mr. Satan is the strongest character in the universe
also buu arc would have been amazing if it wasn’t so long
Watched Paprika.
The ending always gets me. Not because it's sad, but because we'll never get another Satoshi Kon movie.
I want to watch Paprika sometime, but to be honest the detective's sideplot is far more engaging and interesting to me than the rest of the plot. You could ditch the rest of the movie and I wouldn't really care.
It's definitely one of Satoshi's weaker works. Not quite as fantastic as Millennium Actress or Perfect Blue.
Also Susumu Hirasawa is really good

If I can bring up FLCL Progressive again, I've been developing this theory and believing it more and more that the whole series was someone's clever allegory for how impossible it is to make a sequel to FLCL.
-The new female main character says more than once "There's nothing I want to be, and nothing I want to do," basically bookending the series with this statement, like she's speaking FOR the series.
-Haruko tells male main character to "learn to swing his own bat" when he tries and fails to attack her with a guitar. Saying that the series needs to do its own thing instead of just aping superficial factors people loved about the original.
-Haruko continuing to chase after something unobtainable (Atomsk) expresses the futility of trying to recapture the magic of the original FLCL.
-The fact of her obtaining the power of Atomsk and then being unable to control it or do anything with it represents these creators chasing down and obtaining the rights to the FLCL franchise, only to realize they have no idea what to do with it but split off into a weaker version of the original.
-Haruko splitting into herself and nu-Haruko (Jinyu) represents the franchise splitting into original FLCL and sequel FLCL.
-Haruko defeating and consuming Jinyu represents how the original will always triumph
I mean maybe this is all coincidence and I'm grasping at straws, but if nothing else, it's fun to imagine that the writing staff included one diehard FLCL fan who never believed a sequel could work, but was ordered by higher-up producers to just make sure it has a lot of guitar fights and robot action, and a minimum quota of characters recurring from the original series.
Cardcaptor Sakura has an amazing cheesy 90s soundtrack (the brass section, good god) and is just totally feel-good and wholesome. It completely lacks any of the cringe-inducing elements most fantastical shows have. And also keroberos is stupid cute.
the first episode of grand blue is dumb and stupid and i love it
Please reply to this post to convince me to buy "a silent voice complete series box set" right now.
When Oku Hiroya serialized Inuyashiki, the biggest criticism was maybe something along the lines of "Why does the hero have to be an ugly old man?"
He answer that criticism with his latest work Gigant, in which the hero is a female porn star that will probably fight by being tall as a skyscraper (and nude).

I'm unsatisfied with MAL, are there any alternative users here? Don't want to shit up the thread, so let's take a vote.
Cute for MAL, Lucky for AniList, Informative for AniDB
As for this season... The voices in Asobi Asobase are very lively. The details in some line deliveries make it so engaging to watch. It's a shame about the OP and ED, though.
>I'm unsatisfied with MAL
>Should I use MAL?
real thinker
It's basically just asking if MAL is the best choice still, even though it's unsatisfying. The others could be worse.
I tried Anilist while MAL was down, and the interface is pretty good (plus I like that "re-watching" is its own separate category) but it just doesn't have quite as many features. I much prefer MAL's interface when looking at a single studio's, author's, or voice actor's list of works, as well as MAL's lists of top-rated and most popular series/movies. I think it has a lot more browsing options in that way.
Anime planet's tagging system makes it way easier to find shows I want to watch. They've even got per-character tags.
Catching up on Dungeon Mehsi and,

Finally it has a cute and pure girl that's not some lewd elf
The contrast between the OP and ED are part of the long-term hilarity of it
what are you on about, the ED is beautiful
It's just not enjoyable for me. I'm talking about the music part of it, not the animation, which is fitting and fluid. For reference, I skip Watamote's OP every time. There are no bits in Asobi Asobase's OP or ED music that make it memorable aside from the contrast between them (thanks ScottyWired).
First episode of high score girl was really enjoyable, it went into a lot of detail about street fighter strats of the time and the video games themselves look great. The CG is pretty alright as well.
I just rewatched all of Gurren Lagann for the 8th time, it's still the best, it's still my favorite thing ever.
