I'll be honest and say I had no idea who she was before she started dating Musk. I started checking out her music after all the hype about them together and watched some interviews with her. I really liked all the songs on Art Angels. I'm not super into her older stuff except a few tracks. This single has me hyped af for the new album, though. I feel for all her long time fans who have been patiently waiting for years.

I've been a huge fan since 2013-ish, shortly after she released "Visions"(which is a must-listen, especially Oblivion, Genesis, Circumambient, and Skin), and absolutely loved Art Angels as well(but it was admittedly overshadowed by Bowie's Blackstar/death). I am crazy excited for this new album to say the least lol
Also I'd never heard of Roko's Basilisk before but that's totally right up her alley. Her and Musk bonded over some obscure science related joke if I recall correctly, and her first few albums were heavily influenced by the novel "Dune" so she's super into this type of stuff.
As for Musk himself, asides from lending that tunnel to her, I have a feeling he was also the benefactor of the seemingly massive budget this Music Video had...
Allegedly, Elon came up with an incredibly nerdy and obscure reference "Rococo Basilisk" which he wanted to tweet out. Upon Googling the phrase he found out Grimes had beat him to the joke by a few years as Rococo Basilisk was a character plagued by AI in the video for Flesh Without Blood. Elon, having just accidentally found the only other human on earth to make the obscure connection between Rococo -an ornate Baroque style architecture-, and Roko's Basilisk, a thought experiment pertaining to a Super AI, decided to slide into her DM's, and the rest is history.

Haha I didn't realise that the obscure joke was literally the thing you mentioned lol, figures. The Roko's Basilisk thing is actually really interesting and definitely makes for a crazy cool foundation for any art medium really, so I can see why she was so inspired by it. I'm just surprised Musk went down basically the exact same path as her and came up with the exact same joke

i went to a dom kennedy show in seattle last night with a friend. the first thing to happen was the DJ coming out and doing a fortnite followed by shouting "SEATTLE!!" and playing a bunch of explosion sound effects. shortly after a black dwarf performing with a group did a stage dive. i was the only one to help him up since my metal show instincts kicked in. he then proceeded to chat up some ladies in the immediate area.
is this what rap shows are normally like? i had never been to a non-festival one before then.
I love it but the very same thing that makes it so great(the cohesiveness and simplicity), is also the very thing that'll make it hard to find any individual songs to throw in my main playlist(same thing happened with I Don't Like Shit as well).
