Ya that's a terrific song but it owes a tremendous debt to Paranoid off of 808's and Heartbreaks(one of my favs off that).
New Aphex Twin track being excellent as usual

drop everything you're listening to and go listen to fishmans on spotify because their entire discography is on spotify now
for anyone into classic/progressive rock and the sort i highly recommend this album, and this band in general. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D10ZJHo4Q3k
Floater isn't very prog nor is it classic rock (though that track does have some obvious prog influences with the mid section) They're a pretty well established alt rock band from the 90's
well fuck you and fuck your genres yeah i know the band goes back quite a bit, no idea why they're not more well known though. i said "classic"/"progressive" because the album/the band's sound itself gave me an early 2000s/90s rock sorta sound, kinda floyd-esque going off my very limited music knowledge. feel free to educate me tho
Its hard to say anything about Floater outside of "alt rock" because they've sounded like everything from grunge to industrial to now prog even. Sort of a lot like KoRn in terms of their album progression over the years (although not as drastic). While they're not particularly popular, they are very obvious influences to many popular bands imo. I think their shitty mastering on virtually every album is what prevents them from resonating with large groups, but that's just me
I tend to only listen to musically actively, rather than passively like I used to as a kid. I find that the neurons we're firing up with music desensitise subconsciously to great songs and we lose some of that magic. I don't understand people who don't like music though, or people who don't get goosebumps with a particular phrase. This is bloody lovely. More of this, please! First half feels like I do when I'm huddled under a warm blanket in Winter. I posted the following in the music Discord recently. It's a slow burn, especially at the beginning, but it's really great shit if you've got a while: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei7cdynwRMA
Both Iglooghost EPs are out btw, gooOOOOooOoOOOoood shit
Anybody know any good brands or specific mics that are not too expensive? Just bought this and am keen to get a reasonably good microphone to go with it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tascam-DP-006-6-Track-Digital-Pocketstudio/dp/B00B5N85TY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1533853360&sr=8-1&keywords=tascam+6-track

Not terribly new, or anything, but I think anyone who doesn't know this song must hear it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7JH-SrhoXE
Scroobius Pip goes hard
Hey guys, I had listened to a bunch of metal growing up but I'd never really listened to heavy metal. So the past week I've made an effort to listen to some of the classic heavy metal bands (most of them for the first time), and I gotta say, some of this stuff is awesome. So far Iron Maiden is my favourite by far, I love their story telling, the lead vocalist is great and their songs have a very grandiose feeling. I'm also really enjoying Metallica. Black Sabbath not as much, I don't really like Ozzy's singing. Do you guys have any recommendations of songs or groups I should check out?

whats some good hip hop and rap artists to help me get into the genres? it's never really clicked for me outside of some tyler the creator and quelle chris tracks.
Kanye is bound to have at least one album to your tastes. Anything from Wu Tang is pretty much amazing, especially the solo albums from Method Man, GZA(Liquid Swords is one of the greatest albums ever, period), Raekwon, Ghostface, so on. Kendrick is an obvious one, with Good Kid Maad City being probably the most accessible to an outsider, but "To Pimp a Butterfly" is my personal favourite(and is also one of the most incredible albums ever made imo) Long. Live. ASAP from ASAP Rocky is a classic Public Enemy's albums are quite old but still hold up pretty well, and are absolute classics, especially their first two albums Since you said you like Tyler the Creator(and presumably Odd Future altogether); Domo Genesis's mixtape "No Idols" has always been a favourite of mine, and his recent album is nice On the same note, Earl Sweatshirt's two solo albums are both incredible, but "I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside" is extremely depressing so it requires a certain state of mind(as intended) I can't comment too much on Trap stuff since I've never been able to get into it despite trying repeatedly, but I'm sure someone else here can chime in on that. I'm sure I could think of plenty more if I tried but that's a good starting point, but I highly recommend just listening to stuff, find songs you like, then look up the producers/guest artists/etc and leapfrog from there. I've found a ton of artists by doing exactly that, in all genres, not just hip hop.
Danny Brown for sure.
milo's who told you to think and nostrum grocers are also really good
i've fallen in love with 070 shake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzyv7C9nrxA thank you yeezy

holy cow, king gizz on kexp playing songs off of poly and gum boot. crumbling castle is my favourite king gizz song, its great to finally hear it live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxwu7FYFSek
when i saw them, they played crumbling castle in two halves. iirc second half of it in the first set and first half of it in the second set. they know how to transition between songs live really fucking well
new daughters album out october 26th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqa4_YuQQV8
I just recently listened to their last album and I love it.
New Death Cab for Cutie came out today. First impressions I'm liking it. It's a pretty breezy listen so people who were hoping for something a little punchier are probably gonna be disappointed.
