Very pleased with the new The Joy Formidable album. Probably gonna be my favorite album of the year. I like hearing the southwestern influence in a few of the songs. Also, this month has been insane for good albums. Slothrust, then Metric the week after, and now this.
Is this the right place to ask help identifying music ?
This foreign soul song has been bugging me and I can't find anything using the usual song identification services. Can't search by lyrics either, for I can't transcribe from this language.
Song in question : output
why have i never heard of these guys before? really tight, heavy noise rock type stuff

Such an underwhelming album, shame that (most) rappers don't age too well.

Geographer is one of those bands where the ones I like I really really like but 90% of their stuff I don't actually enjoy. This new one is v nice though

Fuck, between Falling Down and now the video for Moonlight, I realise why XXX got so popular. Even though I swore to never support him/listen to his stuff due to his horrendous background of abuse and just violence in general, I listened to Falling Down out of intrigue when it released, and ended up loving it, and listened to this for the same reason, and love it as well.
It's kinda ridiculous just how much more talented he was than basically the entire rest of his "class", and just how much clearer his artistic vision was.

Recommend me some good concept albums (any genre/time period is fine) and post the best song from it.
the mars volta - frances the mute
i'd post the best song from it but you gotta experience the album in its entirety, so have the first track instead

Also I've now begun to binge Depeche Mode and associated bands again sEND HELP

gonna see Tim Hecker for second time this weekend. First time it was in a church and he flooded the entire thing with fog, was amazing.
This time it's his new album which I am really enjoying...
fuck i wanna see hecker live
you should
Welp I did the month without any new music. Was great, and now I'm not so strongly inclined to constantly explore.
Soooo many rediscoveries as well. My ears have developed quite some bit over the past 2 years so I've saved so many albums I wasnt huge on previously.
Going on a huge jazz binge now.
this is what i did... unlike movies where I feel it's not necessary to always revisit, music is different.
You've got a lot of recommendations but I gotta chime in with Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie. It's a concept album about a long distance relationship that is doomed to eventually fail.

This is a few years old know but I just randomly thought about it last night, dunno if any of you have listened to it:

The production is so good it's crazy, and this dude wrote a ton of hits for likes of Beyonce and so on, so he's dope when it comes to writing structure as well. Brooklyn Gamma is a good example of his writing prowess thanks to that dope ass hook/chorus.
i really want to see idles live, but they are booked out well into next year with shows with no sign of any australia shows.
i haven't listened to it too much but i like the atmosphere that hes capable of conjuring throughout the album. has this apocalyptic vibe to it, "C.U.R.E." and "i run roulette" are probably my favorites. have you heard the EP he put out earlier this year?
and on a side note the new twenty one pilots leaked and 's solid.
Ya the atmosphere is defo one of the things he nailed the most, and "apocalyptic" is definitely the best way to describe it. I gave it a quick listen yesterday but didn't like actually sit down and digest it yet, gonna do that tonight. He's an all around crazy talented guy.
He also contributed the incredible hook to "Early" from Run the Jewels(1:04), which is also the song that got me into them(although I haven't really kept up with them).

Portland, Seattle and Boise are all like 3-4 hours away from me, so it's a struggle to go to any show. Seeing Clutch with some friends on Saturday though.
gonna see deafheaven tomorrow.
should be good, enjoyed their old material and the new album sounds ok
