Can't wait to hear Jay go off about Suspiria 2018.
I loved it, but I could see why some people would find it self indulgent.
Jay saying something is "one of the most horrific set pieces" he's ever seen is like an 11/10 endorsement for me to go watch Suspira. I know Ralphthemoviemaker dug it really hard as well.
I wonder if he's referring to the girl getting all her bones brokenbecause...oh god, that is an uncomfortable scene.
I'm pretty sure that's what he's referring to.
I wonder if Jay likes the American or European version of Possession
Man, now I know if I have a severe drinking problem I don't want to get rid of and I want to make sure my friends and family never find me again, I'll move to Milwaukee. Thanks for the advice RLM!
I was half expecting another SW Christmas special like joke where they spent the whole time talking about everything but the movie
why do they think captain marvel is the first avenger instead of captain america
the 90s happened after world war 2
The movie shows Nick Fury's first encounter with extraterrestrial life and a super hero. Ultimately he decides he wants to find more heroes to be protectors of Earth if something big ever happens again. He sees in a photo of Captain Marvel when she was a pilot and her callsign was "Avenger" so he decides to call the group "Avengers".
i got that but he starts the initiative after he meets her, he doesn't recruit her into it. cap'n america is the first he actually recruits into the initiative isn't he?? she fucks off for a while. she's not even technically an avenger let alone the first. she just inspired the initiative. why am i even arguing about this!!!! im oging insnane
I appreciate RLM's role as of late in just outlining how stupid so many of these modern movie controversies are. Like, it's very easy to get swept up in all the anger and debates surrounding these movies, but then you take a step back and realize you're expending mental energy over a committee-designed superhero movie made for children.
They did the same thing when Wonder Woman came out with that whole "forget role models like Marie Curie, Harriet Tubman, Mae Jemison, Amelia Earhardt, Susan B. Anthony, and their own mothers, now they have a fictional superhero from a magic island to look up to!" bit. They've just got an uncanny knack for cutting through culture wars bullshit like few I've seen elsewhere.
