The Tenth Doctor was pretty open about his family to people he trusted, I don't see why you have a problem with the 13th Doctor being open with it, I mean there was pretty much an entire episode dedicated to him rekindling that feeling of family again.

Holy shit there is an extreme cringe moment where an audience member says she loves Chibnall's work and lists two Moffatt episodes (Chibnall tells her he didn't write those ones) and then she proceeds to ask him how he came up with all the River Song storylines. Chibs handles it well though
When I watch panels I stop when audience questions start, I can't handle it.

Finally got around to watching the new episode. I thought it was really good.
The only problems I have are how the sonic screwdriver looks, and the "I don't have any family, I lost them a long time ago." bit. Doesn't the Doctor have a granddaughter who lives in London right now? I know Susan Foreman isn't the youngest out there but I'm sure she's either still around or had kids of her own. I don't know, maybe pop in and give your part Time Lord descendants a quick visit every now and then.
It's been implied multiple times in new Who that the Doctor's family are all dead, mostly back in RTD times though
