I feel like this is what the season's building to. There clearly isn't a traditional story arc, but I do think we're gonna see the Stenza return in the finale as the villains
I think that, and the timeless child, could be tying into why: All the villans seemingly are coming out of nowhere, and Things are not as they seem

I think it's time we had a companion who wasn't from modern times. There's been a rumour since 2013 that Victorian Clara was going to be the Doctor's companion until the last minute when the BBC wanted Moffat to change it and that's why Modern Clara was pretty meh for Season 7. I don't know how accurate that rumour is but it'd be an interesting choice IMO, there would be plenty of opportunities for character development we haven't seen before.
I think it also got a bit ruined because Matt Smith wanted to leave in Season 7, which didn't really tie into Trenzalore quite well; as such, they had to accelerate that plotline, which broke the christmas special.
I'll always stick to the idea of having a soldier from WW1 or WW2 as a main companion. Wanted to escape the war because of the horrors, and runs into the Doctor which is the perfect escape. Is capable of fighting back aliens and monsters and has the knowledge of using weapons. Butts heads with the Doctor over the use of weapons, being a revolver or a rifle, but only uses them as a last resort. Eventually wants to return to his time and continue fighting, only to get shot and dies as soon he steps out the TARDIS.
hey that sounds like a pretty bad idea
I just want to see another companion like Ace. Whack the shit out of a Dalek with a sledgehammer.
I want another companion like Jamie.
It was nice of Moffat to try and save the Christmas slot - but the move to New Years Day has been confirmed by DWM.
that is fully fucked up imo
That probably means that the Mirror (who reported about the Christmas special being moved) also saying that there's no full series in 2019 is probably true then.
From what I understand the reason why there is no Christmas special is because Chibnall couldn't think of any ideas for it, dosn't exactly fill me with confidence going forwards, and the fact the 2019 series may be delayed if it happens at all is kind of worrying...
There's only so many times you can do Christmas stories without a break imo
it doesn't even need to be related to christmas (I mean return of doctor mysterio essentially already wasn't) I just want it to air on christmas day for the niceness of it
A little late but I really liked how the episode covered a part of history and the world that is by-and-large unexplored when it comes to fiction in the Anglosphere.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPi2ny1r7rM Fezzes are cool.
So, Space Amazon
Oh neat, just found out that the guy who made 9/10th's Tardis interior design, came back and did 13ths. No wonder it feels familiar.
Get ready for a BBC first: someone pissing in a bottle before the watershed
Don’t let the silly title fool you; this episode has much more to it. Most of the weaker elements of the series so far – such as lacklustre villains, thin side characters and plots – are thankfully not present here. Finally, it feels like all the pieces fit together cohesively.
Didn't realise this was the Pete McTighe episode. My expectations have gone up a notch - the man has been vying for the gig for a decade.
like I said before, I have a good feeling about this one - even more so after watching that clip
As of now, this season seems to struggle with space/sci-fi ish episodes, while the rest is pretty good. Both episode 3 and episode 6 were pretty great imho.
Starburst Magazine of all things claim to have got on the case of Series 12...
Rumours about both the immediate and longer term future of Doctor Who have been flying around the Internet this week. In a bid to either discover the truth or put those rumours to bed, Starburst has been in touch with the series’ production office for confirmation one way or the other. The BBC was happy to go on the record about the programme’s short-term future. There had been a lot of chatter about Jodie Whittaker’s second run in Series 12 being planned for a broadcast in the spring of 2020, rather than in the autumn of 2019 as everyone had originally assumed. This is not true. We were told that Series 12 went into production this week, and that it will definitely be broadcast next year, as part of the autumn 2019 TV schedule.
...hopefully just as right as they were two months ago.
"The second rumour that’s currently doing the rounds is that new showrunner Chris Chibnall hasn’t been happy behind the scenes, and is set to quit after Series 12." God damnit no, I am really liking his style, and I don't want Jodie to leave after 2 seasons.
Yeah, I'm quite liking Jodie as well and hope the next showrunner is willing to keep her on for another season so we can get a full three like everyone except Nine . I don't mind Chibnall leaving if episodes will continue being as dull as they have been. It's nowhere near as dull as season 10 was, but they can do far, far better than this.
if chibnall leaves who would even replace him
It's an interesting one. There have definitely been rumours about things not going the way they were originally intended - but then they never seem to with Who. RTD and Gardner were machines to do what they did. Moffat never had that stability and rotated through Wenger / Willis / Skinner / Penhale / Minchin by his side while working on Sherlock too. Guess this is the first time Chibnall has gone it more "alone" in a sense (not literally, obviously). He had the same production company behind him with Law & Order / Broadchurch. Camelot had 11 Executive Producers but was a right mess for it. The BBC is a different beast. Tim Price was in the room at the start and was credited for the Pting, but he was supposed to write Episode 5 / The Tsuranga Conundrum until it fell through and Chibnall took it - and now it's regarded as one of the worst episodes of the show. An example that shit happens. I would hope if it is causing a problem then the Beeb will provide whatever backup Chibnall needs to keep the train running.
is The Tsuranga Conundrum really regarded as one of the worst of the show? I stand by my thoughts of it being pretty good
I feel like The Ghost Monument has been the weakest of the season so far to me, though if that's the worst it can throw at me then it's got nothing on Moffat at his worst.
