The Doctor Who Spoilers and Speculation Thread V3 - "Oh, brilliant."

I've been reading through the transcripts of Doctor Who, and I've thought about something said in The Lodger.
[Doctor's room]
DOCTOR: I don't know what it is yet. Anything that can stop the Tardis from landing is big. Scary big.
It turns out to be a time capsule, the same sort of time capsule that the Silence use. It nearly causes the Tardis to be destroyed at the end of the episode.
Later, in The Pandorica Opens:
[Tardis]
RIVER: Someone else is flying it. An external force. I've lost control.
I get that the ship is supposed to be foreshadowing the Silence from being on Earth, but is the fact that the ship can affect the Tardis supposed to super-foreshadow the fact that the Silence are the ones controlling the Tardis to its Doom!

This was also done by S11 writer Pete McTighe.
The thing with the entire arc is that it's very obvious that Moffat had no fucking idea what he was doing, he was making it up as he went along. A lot of the things from s5 and s6 make no sense whatsoever when placed in the context that is revealed in Time of the Doctor.
Kovarian says that the creatures are the head of The Silence, when they're just revealed later to be just confessional fucking priests? what?! Why is there a crack in Christmas? Why didn't it close when the Doctor closed the rest of them? Why doesn't that crack erase people from history? The Doctor explained in Time of the Doctor that the Time Lords were using the cracks to find the safest place to come back into the universe from (i.e, wherever the Doctor deemed the safest and spoke his name) so why doesn't every crack have Gallifrey on the other side of it? How did the Silence hijack the TARDIS? Why did they need the Pandorica if the Doctor's death is a fixed point in time?
Matt Smith's tenure and the overall arc and tenure is a proper, proper mess when it comes to plot holes. It's just best not to think about it too much.
Most damning thing I can say is that I rewatched it pretty recently and I don't eveb remember 80% of what you're talking about
the only reason I remember all this is because I rewatched Smith's era over the past two weeks, there are loads of little things in s5 and 6 that seem like they're going to make sense later but they just don't.
to be fair, you need a pretty high IQ to properly understand Moffat's writing...
they're smart shows for smart people
Took me long enough, but I updated the latest news in the OP.
Working around the new quote coding is hard though. Anyone willing to help me fix the text to remove outdated italics and bold coding as well as getting updated info in?
For those who were watching the show around Season 6, did you see the twist of 'A Good Man Goes to War' coming before it was revealed?
Matt Smith will be in the next Star Wars.

Everyone saw it coming. As soon as it was revealed that Amy was pregnant.
Where is the christing air date
Rumoured to be the 23rd September. Think they're going to announce it in the Radio Times like the olden days.
It wouldn't be the end of the world but I hope it's not Sundays from now on.. I like it on Saturdays
Sunday's make much more sense to me tbh. The competition with the X Factor has damaged Who a bit in the last few years
The first episode of Bodyguard consolidated to 10.4m viewers. Something in this Sunday drama business.
I'm sure it'll do better in the slot, I will just miss it being on Saturdays out of tradition I think
Sunday 7th October confirmed air date

Episode 1: "The Woman Who Fell To Earth"
Interesting. Pretty sure it's 60m too.
Wonder what timeslot they'll give it? Hope it's not 5pmish and they push back the Strictly results show for the 7 slot.
That can't be right, the Doctor doesn't land on Sundays. They're too boring.
to be fair this will certainly make them less boring
The reference in this isn't obvious at all!

What in the world we're they thinking with that song choice, just give that teaser a epic OST vibe like they've done with the previous teasers and it would've worked out just fine.
Guess pop was on the mind for that one
Putting out a "Release Date Trailer" without the release date in it is definitely up there with the best of Doctor Who marketing.
"Whoops" - 13
It's in the video description, but yeah, it's pretty goofy to not put the thing the whole video's about in the video itself.
There will be an explosion of TV spots and posters etc with about two weeks to go until the air date but I wouldn't bank on there being a new full length trailer before it airs. The way the BBC tend to do promo on drama is a TV spot "coming soon" thing (which is what the glass ceiling one is, I imagine) about two weeks before it airs, then another new TV spot with the date on a week later.
please god can we have a better TV spot than the glass ceiling one
I love how much having a female Doctor breaks gender barriers as much as the next guy but the music is off, the cg kind of sucks, and it just generally feels badly put together
I would really love for Jodie to have a properly great specially filmed TV spot like A Time For Heroes from S10
