That series isn't happening for a while, and may not happen at all. And Georgiou and Tyler show up again, they're in the trailers.
It’s true. I was referring to things like twisting camera moves, Burnham/Tyler CW drama, and gratuitous violence.
Did someone say gratuitous violence? https://youtu.be/Tmuv8gPiBhg
I rewound that scene a lot as a kid, which says a lot about the type of kid I was (and still am)
I was so excited for that shit to pay off later when I was a kid and it never did. Haven't seen it for years, and now I'm surprised by just how explicit it is, and how bad the creatures look. Venom just wishes it could have been as graphic as a 20 year old Star Trek episode.
It sorta had a payoff in STO. I know it's beta-canon
IIRC they were originally going to be the big bad that turned into the Borg.
Yeah, my assumption has always been that they weren't received well, and so they scrapped it and came up with the Borg instead. I can see how little rubber mind-control bugs aren't very inspiring.
Borg were done because the bluegills were too expensive to keep using. the borg costumes were a lot cheaper.

Wow, the gold uniform she's wearing looks so much better and more Star Trekky than the generi-blue Disco suits.
Same uniform pike had in episode 1
I reaaallllyy dig the Disco version of the TOS uniform. The black turtleneck is slick as hell and the piping makes it a lot more official looking than the shirts they were originally wearing. Though I gotta admit, part of me was hoping that Pike and co. would walk off the transporter pad wearing sweaters that their mom knitted a badge into. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/images/c/cf/Christopher_Pike%2C_2254.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20190124053241&path-prefix=en
More news on the Section 31 show. https://trekmovie.com/2019/02/06/writing-for-star-trek-section-31-series-has-already-started/
Yeah, but Kurtzman doesn't think it will air for another couple years. So that's all it is, writing.
Don't play with my emotions like this, Discovery, damn it! Sandwiching your "modern" science-fiction vomit between two great episodes. This episode is what I expected and hoped the show would be before the first season 1 trailer came out. Was Saru's death fakeout more melodramatic than the trope usually is, or is that what it feels like in a modern context? Either way, they can't play that card again for a long while. Next week looks super intriguing. If the spore drive really does damage mycellial lifeforms, then I am going to be feeling really guilty about much I've been using the spore drive in Star Trek Online.
Sadly, trailers ruined this for me, it showed Saru alive with his sister in a later episode.
So happy the new engineer lady is here to stay That looks so comfortable
I wonder what the most comfortable costume IRL was for actors. I know the 24th century uniforms were annoyingly hot because of their wool construction. I don't remember ever hearing what the Enterprise cast ever said about theirs.

Cryptic designed a late 23rd century version of the Walker Class, named after Georgiou https://twitter.com/cryptic_ttc/status/1094064894666633216?s=21 https://twitter.com/cryptic_ttc/status/1093922352625201152?s=21
Damn, that's gorgeous (Georgious?). Reminds me of a more fleshed-out Centaur. https://c-3sux78kvnkay76x24mgskvkjogx2eiax78ykijtx2eius.g00.gamepedia.com/g00/3_c-3yzu.mgskvkjog.ius_/c-3SUXKVNKAY76x24nzzvyx3ax2fx2fmgskvkjog.iax78ykijt.iusx2fyzu_mgskvkjogx2f9x2f91x2fJklgarz_Iktzgax78_Irgyy.pvmx3fbkx78youtx3dh12h61583l1314lkjilk9hh9k6hh92g2_$/$/$/$/$?i10c.ua=1
TrekCore has some new interviews with Discovery's costume designer and production designer. Apparently Discovery's original production designer is working on the Picard series. TREKCORE: Have you been approached to work on the upcoming Picard series? DEVERELL: No, that’s already well underway; Todd Cherniawsky who was the supervising art director of Discovery and then took over [production design] is doing that one. I’ve seen some of the designs, it’s super exciting; a lot of the same people are working on it.

For a moment I thought they were going to kill Culber twice. Also for next week's episode, Is it just me, or do the Ba'ul look like the unidentified monster from Skin of Evil.
The ship in the preview looks like Anubis's ship from Stargate SG1.
I miss Stargate

So we’re going to see how Discovery does... this side of Paradise?
According to IMDB she's written 3 episodes of Season 2, which haven't aired yet.
