Rebecca Romijn sounds like perfect casting for Number One. I wonder if she's going to be a new canonical captain of the Enterprise, given that Pike's uniform change hints that he may take full command of Discovery.

The alien that Burnham sees, and the different signal popping up across 30,000 light years makes me think we might be interacting with the Iconians, though it could totally be something new. The Iconian designs in Star Trek Online share a vaguely arachnoid appearance.

It looks like they're trying for comedy and levity a little too hard, but I'm all for it. IMO, Star Trek is at it's best when it has a dash of camp, and I'm sure we'll have all the Burnham and PIke angst we can handle to balance it out.
Interesting that Tig Notaro's character, who's supposed to be a chief engineer, seems to be wearing command gold with an engineer's insignia. Though there is precedence for this with Scotty sometimes wearing command white in the TOS movies.
I could swear the redshirt in Pike's entourage is an alien we've seen in a TOS movie, also she's totally gonna die, she accompanies Pike and Burnham into the asteroid belt place.
Spock may be showing up later in the season, and there's a brief shot of Burnham accessing one of Spock's personal logs, still room for Zachary Quinto to show up.
The red blinkies in the corridors help make the ship feel way more TOS, I want to say those corridors are on Discovery, because there's no one else but Pike's entourage wearing Constitution-class uniforms.
And yay, they turned the lights up on the ship exteriors!

In reference to smiling I mean the show as a whole being lighter. Season one was so emotionally monotone, even the darker stretches of DS9 were interwoven with comedy and other lighter moments.

The story takes place during that 6 month gap between Episode 2 and Episode 3 of Season 1.
The villain is T'Kuvma's sister from the comics which is neat.

I mean, if CBS is giving them more resources to make this content I’m all for it. This is the craziest turn around for new content I think I’ve ever seen in the game’s history.
It’s really exciting to see. I hope they update the Discovery uniforms a bit, because they feel a little rushed right now.

The press release says the game will be updated as Discovery's story moves on, so he could appear later.
I am irrationally excited for a new transporter effect. In the show I find it fairly plain, but it will look awesome in-game. And my Crossfield is going to get a bridge, we're probably going to get a Tier-6 Discovery Constitution alongside all the other new ships. Good times ahead! (Beyond uniforms asap pls tho)
I imagine KDF players will be a bit miffed or relieved that they're not getting a Discovery Klingon faction. They'll definitely a selection of all the new weird designs.

They’re treating this like an expansion that is slowly released over time.
That being said DSC themed content will NOT be the only thing released going forward, but will be sprinkled here and there between other content, it’s an ongoing story.
They worked directly with the writers and producers, and I don’t mean over the phone, they went to their local offices in LA to discuss the game’s story. It was actually the show people who suggested they use T’Kuvma’s sister from the comics.
They worked out, theoretically, how the game’s story would fit in the Discovery’s story line to make sure it won’t contridict the show.
Lots of new ships, but didn’t say what.

I have fond memories of TNG (and did enjoy the TNG era movies even if they were flawed) so I am not sure how to feel about this. There's so much they'll have to get right for it not to be shit.

I can't believe this is really happening. Since this is real, the the sky's the limit for everything else they have planned.
This could finally be the ground-based, more introspective drama that fans have talked about for the last 20 years.
